Rewarding Hardworking Field Technicians With a Home Depot Shopping Spree

WTI Home Depot Cards
October 30, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt.

After taking notice of their field technicians' hard work, Tremco and Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. (WTI) decided to give back.

Field technicians for Tremco and WTI work around the clock to deliver quality roofing results to their customers. Although days can be long and the job is tough, they all get the job done with a smile on their face. That’s why Tremco and WTI decided to give back to a few crew members by rewarding them with a Home Depot shopping spree.

Regional Field Support Manager Brittany Randall, was asked to manage the Home Depot account for WTI. This past year she had noticed that the company was racking up a lot of reward points for all their purchases. These rewards can be used towards purchases from Home Depot and they had accumulated a couple thousand dollars worth of reward credits. After discovering these credits would expire soon, Brittany decided to give them back to their field technicians as rewards for their hard work.

“We decided we were going to put it out to the 10 teams for them to nominate one person. You know, just somebody that is always doing the right thing in their area, somebody who has a great attitude,” she said. “That person got a shopping spree at Home Depot.”

Those who management selected to win received $300 in Home Depot rewards credits. The company did not require the winners to buy something work related and encouraged them to get whatever they wanted. Brittany says that she loved getting to see what everyone chose to buy, with winners purchasing anything from grills to materials for their own home building projects.

“One of our female technicians, she actually had an idea she'd been saving to buy some home organization items,” she said. “We had a gentleman that was building a shed in his backyard and he just wanted lumber. And I think that's so cool. So we helped him build his shed.”

Brittany says the whole experience was so rewarding for everyone that they hope to make this a yearly event. She said it’s nice to give their field technicians something that is personal and useful to them.

“I think that's fantastic because so often you get company logoed items,” she said. “This was just something that we wanted to make super personal and useful... And you know, every time that that guy uses his shed, he's going to think of you, or when they use their grill and they're like, ‘Yeah, I got this for my work.’”
