For the past 23 years, Dataforma has provided software for commercial contractors to help manage their businesses. In a conversation with The Coffee Shops™, Dataforma’s COO Brian Cook discussed how the company is revitalizing its approach to provide a more streamlined, cohesive experience to meet contractors’ needs.
“My job is to speak with the contractors all day, every day, asking, ‘what do you need? What are you missing?’” Brian shared. “Now, we're refocusing.”
The first project Dataforma tackled in its refocusing efforts was its sales module, the number one request from users over the past few years. Prior to this redesign, its customers used third-party sales software or Excel files, leading to frustrations with inefficiencies from not having all their information in one place.
Now, there’s a true front-end sales tool that encompasses everything from field reports, employee timecards, safety reports, branded client portals and GPS tracking. “If you win a job, it becomes a work order in data format,” Brian explained. “All that information from the sales team instantly gets transferred to the production team.”
The new sales module isn’t only more functional; it looks good, too, with its new aesthetics. “There are nice, bright colors,” Brain described. “When you log in, you have all of your customized dashboards right away. You don’t have to click anything to see your reports.”
Dataforma isn't stopping there. The new sales module is just the first step in a new direction in the pursuit of ongoing improvement. “We’re going to make minor upgrades throughout the rest of the year,” Brian said. “At our next Design Summit, we'll let our contractors tell us what they liked and what they didn't like, and then we'll make more changes over the next year.”
Brian attributed these positive changes to Dataforma’s dedicated customer success team. “It’s not a call center; it’s real people at our office,” Brian said. “We're big enough to have the resources to provide customer support and take their feedback. But we're not so big that we don't care about each one.”
