New RhinoRoof® High-Temp self-adhered underlayment brings an underlayment system to the metal roof

Owens Corning - New RhinoRoof underlayment
October 7, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

New addition allows contractors to install underlayments in extreme temperature settings.

RhinoRoof® is expanding its portfolio with the introduction of RhinoRoof® High-Temp self-adhered underlayment, a high-temperature underlayment designed specifically for everyday metal roofing projects. From metal roof installations to accent applications such as porches, dormers and gables, RhinoRoof® High-Temp delivers the performance contractors need along with the value they want to help keep projects on schedule and on budget.

With RhinoRoof® High-Temp, contractors can install a complete underlayment system for metal roofing applications using trusted RhinoRoof® products. When paired with RhinoRoof® U20 synthetic underlayment, RhinoRoof® High-Temp provides a coordinated system designed to address the unique demands of metal roofing while offering a practical solution for common residential and metal roofing projects.

Designed to deliver value without compromising performance, RhinoRoof® High-Temp combines the durability, walkability and installation advantages contractors need for every day metal roofing applications. The product features a FiberGrip® slip-resistant walking surface for excellent traction and reliable walkability.** A durable construction helps resist tearing during installation and jobsite handling.† The self-adhered design includes a split release liner that simplifies installation around valleys, penetrations, transitions and architectural details, helping crews work efficiently and keep projects moving.

Metal roofs are known for their durability and long service life, but they also present unique challenges. Temperature changes can cause metal panels to expand and contract over time, creating opportunities for moisture or condensation to reach the roof deck. Heat can also build up beneath metal roof claddings, making underlayment selection a critical part of the roofing assembly.

Engineered to withstand temperatures up to 240°F, RhinoRoof® High-Temp is specifically designed for the elevated temperatures that can develop beneath metal roof panels. Its high-temperature asphalt formulation and product surface are designed not to scratch or fuse to metal panels.††

Because metal roofing projects often require longer installation timelines than traditional asphalt shingle applications, underlayments must also be able to withstand extended exposure during construction. RhinoRoof® High-Temp is engineered to withstand up to 90 days of UV exposure, providing added flexibility throughout the installation process.

Whether installing a full metal roof or a metal accent feature, RhinoRoof® High-Temp delivers a combination of value, durability, walkability and high-temperature performance designed for the everyday metal roofing projects contractors tackle every day. With a complete RhinoRoof® underlayment system now available for metal roofing applications, contractors have a practical solution to help protect the roofing system while keeping projects moving efficiently.

Pre-orders for the product begin on October 12, 2026 with orders shipping in January 2027. More information is available here.

**Based on Internal Test Report TR2510016 (October 2025). FiberGrip surface passed walkability/slip-resistance testing after 500 hours of ASTM D4798 Cycle 1 weathering exposure. Results are based on controlled laboratory testing. Actual jobsite conditions may vary.

† Based on Internal Test Report TR2510007 (October 2025), PRI Report #1378T0628 and Internal Test Report TR2604001 (June 2026). Product tear resistance was evaluated through internal and third-party testing, including ASTM D1970 testing. Actual jobsite conditions may vary.

†† Based on Internal Test Report TR2510007 (October 2025). Product was evaluated in modified thermal stability testing at temperatures up to 240°F under controlled laboratory conditions. Actual jobsite conditions may vary.
