METALCON: Hot Off the Press - Keynote Speakers Announced

Pittsburgh sports legends to deliver keynote address.  

You’ve all heard the expression “When in Rome” … so it is only fitting that “while in Pittsburgh,” we will pay homage to the city’s rich history in sports by having two of their sports icons at METALCON 2019 which will be held in the “Steel City,” October 16-18, 2019. The METALCON team is thrilled to announce that former NFL Pittsburgh Steeler champion, Rocky Bleier, and former Pittsburgh Penguin superstar, Bryan Trottier, will take center stage as this year’s Keynote Speakers.

METALCON’s title sponsor, U.S. Steel, is proudly bringing us special guest Rocky Bleier, four-time NFL Super Bowl Champion and running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bleier embodies heroism, determination, teamwork, and leadership. Shortly after being drafted by the Steelers in 1968, he was drafted by the U.S. Army to fight in Vietnam. He was quickly thrown into combat, seriously wounded and told he would never walk again. Not only did he walk again, but he regained his running back position and played for ten years from 1970 to 1980. Through his story of courage and determination, he defines what it takes to succeed in times of change, how to conquer insurmountable odds and become an extraordinary achiever. You can catch Mr. Bleier’s keynote address on the first day of the show, Wednesday, October 16 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in the PPG Theater, located on the show floor.

METALCON’s other title sponsor, PPG, brings us the second keynote presenter – former professional ice hockey center and seven-time Stanley Cup winner, Bryan Trottier. Mr. Trottier played 18 seasons in the NHL for the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders and will share his life journey including the challenges he faced and overcame. He will highlight the importance of leadership, the uniqueness of team and how it strengthens an organization, the importance of diversity in an organization – diversity of thought, perspective and experience. Of course including a few colorful ice hockey stories throughout. Mr. Trottier will present his keynote on Thursday, October 17 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in the PPG Theatre on the show floor.
