Roofing Alliance Jose De Jesus
September 29, 2019 at 6:00 a.m.

By Lauren White.

Antis Roofing’s dependable Field Supervisor leads with integrity.

Every year, outstanding employees are nominated by their coworkers for the Roofing Alliance’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award program.  This award recognizes and celebrates workers in two categories:  1) Workers who exemplify dedication to their work, employees, and company; demonstrate a strong work ethic; and practice excellent leadership, initiative, and resourcefulness.  2) Workers who show compassion for others outside the workplace and volunteer their time with their communities, churches, families, and friends. MVPs are dedicated to their work and to helping others, going above and beyond to get the job done and ensure everyone feels valued for what they do.  Five winners were selected for the 2019 Roofing Alliance MVP Awards. At RoofersCoffeeShop® we live by our motto of Roofing Respect® and wanted to highlight all of the MVP award winners. Keep reading to understand how these devoted individuals add value to their workplace and contribute to the world around them.

Described as dependable, rational, compassionate, responsible, and charitable, among others, Jesus Zermeno represents Antis Roofing and Waterproofing and what the company stands for effectively.  Valued by his colleagues and supported by his wife and three children, Jesus leads in a quiet but firm way that commands respect and nets results.

Jesus joined Antis eight and a half years ago and now serves as Antis Roofing’s Field Supervisor.  When he first started working at Antis, his leadership approach proved effective and he quickly gained more responsibility, thus advancing in the company.  “Today, he leads a team of technicians overseeing roof installations, repairs and maintenances. He has an even-keeled and friendly demeanor that allows him to communicate well with our clients and establish trust immediately,” as mentioned in Jesus’ nomination.  Narcisco Alarcon, Jesus’ immediate supervisor commented, “We were growing so quickly I was stretched thin in my efforts to motivate and support the field technicians. Within days after Jesus’ promotion to Field Supervisor I could see the team lose their stress and they were actually able to handle more jobs thanks to his leadership ability.”

Narcisco isn’t the only one who appreciates Jesus’ quiet demeanor and recognizes his ability to lead others.  Ernie Basulto, Director of Human Resources shared, “He brings calm to any situation and provides leadership through knowledge, experience and a strong moral compass.  He does not react; he engages and listens, then provides a clear path to the solution.” Aaron Antis, Director of Sales, commented, “You always know what you’re going to get with Jesus...He listens, then he acts according to the agreed-upon decision.  He also understands that he doesn’t know everything, so he approaches every situation with humility, only wanting to do what is right. It’s hard for people to not like that, both internally and externally.”

Four people from Antis, including Jesus, traveled to Washington, D.C. in 2018 to attend NRCA’s Roofing Day at the Capitol.  400 roofing professionals from across the country spoke with legislators about critical issues facing the roofing industry. While he was hesitant to attend, Jesus’ presence was significant for the NRCA.  “Of the 30 NRCA representatives present, he uniquely represented the NRCA’s labor force, of which 70% is Hispanic,” as explained in his nomination. Additionally, Jesus and one other person had the opportunity to meet with US Representative Lou Correa about issues in the roofing industry.  Lou Correa, an immigrant, was familiar with Antis and the work they do since he served on the Habitat for Humanity Orange County board of directors for many years. Karen Inman, President & COO of Antis shared, “At first, we heard that Representative Correa was unavailable to meet. But when he discovered that Jesus, a constituent from his district, was going to be present he cleared his calendar.”

Jesus Zermeno’s value at Antis is not without notice.  Founder and CEO Charles Antis commented, “It brings goosebumps to my arms to know that we are truly changing the world in this company due to people like Jesus who show up ‘all in,’ every day, to do good.”  Commanding both love and respect from those who know him, Jesus leads with integrity and demonstrates how a strong work ethic can yield results and contribute positively to the success of Antis.
