Malarkey Legacy® Shingles Stand up to Hail in Kansas City

An inspection after the storm showed that the Malarkey Legacy Shingles sustained virtually no damage following the hail storm.

After severe spring storms and tornadoes rolled through Kansas City, Kansas on March 6, 2017, many roofs were left damaged. Shawn Bellis, owner of Epic Exteriors, LLC is a Malarkey Certified Residential Contractor in the Kansas City area who has been installing roofs in the area for over 20 years. Bellis reported that 30,000 roofs were affected by the large hail stones and strong winds.

As a Haag certified inspector Bellis effectively and efficiently inspects and assesses weather-related damage on residential roofs. He inspected two roofs in Overland Park, Kansas that had Malarkey Legacy laminated architectural roofing shingles installed. There was next to no damage to the roofs. Needless to say, Bellis recommends the product to his customers and it’s what he has on his own home.

Impacts to the roof from hail can reduce the life of a shingle. Malarkey’s Legacy line of shingles is fortified with durable Flexor™ polymer modified asphalt for improved protection against extreme weather and better granule adhesion.  The shingle line is Class 4 and passes UL 2218 testing which simulates a two-inch diameter hail stone impacting the shingle at high speeds. Additionally the Legacy shingle line includes optional Scotchguard™ Protector from 3M for added protection against black streaks caused by algae.
