Leveraging your leadership team to reach your 2025 goals

Leveraging your leadership team to reach your 2025 goals
May 30, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

By Dani Sheehan.

There is no “I” in team and there is no growth in an organization without strong leadership. Position people in the right roles and see how you can effortlessly work toward your goals.

By now, most businesses have already set their 2025 goals. But setting the goal is just the beginning. Reaching those goals requires focus, collaboration and a strong leadership team guiding the way. The GLO Group has outlined its best practices for building and fostering effective leadership to help you turn a good year into a stellar one. We sat down with cofounders Melissa Chapman and Monica Vornbrock to discuss what makes a leadership team truly effective, and how businesses can engage their leaders to drive progress throughout the year.

Key characteristics of strong leadership

Collaboration and accountability are at the heart of effective leadership. Melissa explained, “The ability to collaborate with one another and understand the impact decisions have on other areas of the business is crucial. Strong leadership teams are intentional about meeting regularly to stay aligned, address challenges and celebrate wins.”

Leadership also requires a strong sense of ownership – taking responsibility for both wins and setbacks. Monica added, “Leaders should look to their team as sources of growth and inspiration, not as threats. Empowering team members to step up, challenge the status quo and contribute ideas fosters a culture of innovation and resilience.”

The importance of a defined leadership team

A clearly defined leadership team streamlines decision-making while fostering a shared sense of accountability and trust within the organization. Melissa explained, “It’s not just the owner’s business. When everyone understands their role in the company’s success, it nurtures trust, fosters creativity and encourages growth.”

Trust is the foundation of any successful team. Leaders must build and maintain trust through transparency, accountability and a commitment to shared goals. This trust will then radiate throughout the rest of the organization, allowing everyone to work toward a common objective.

Driving progress on your 2025 goals

If your 2025 goals are already set, now is the time to check in and ensure they are actionable. Use your leadership team as the engine for execution. Are they meeting regularly? Do they have the data and authority they need to make decisions and pivot when needed? Do they understand how their work and their teams contribute to company-wide objectives?

Melissa and Monica recommend using regular check-ins not only to track progress, but also to course-correct and reenergize your teams. It’s important to differentiate between company-wide goals and individual goals to ensure that both contribute to the organization’s overall success.

If you’ve invested in building a strong leadership team, now is when you let that team lead. Give them the tools, the trust and the autonomy to carry out your strategy and check in often to celebrate milestones along the way.

With collaboration, clarity and a strong team culture, you still have plenty of time to make 2025 your company’s best year yet.
