Leading with people, panels and purpose

Leading with people, panels and purpose
July 4, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

How an innovative manufacturer is using simplicity, service and sustainability to reshape the industry.

At first glance, All Weather Insulated Panels (AWIP) may look like a typical building materials manufacturer, but a conversation with President Greg Lusty quickly reveals a deeper story — one centered on people, purpose and a drive to lead meaningful change in the industry.

“We manufacture wall, roof and roof deck panels,” Greg said, “but that’s the boring part.” For AWIP, the real focus is on the human and strategic elements that surround the product.

Greg, who stepped into the president role just over a year ago after leading commercial efforts, explained that the company’s culture — rooted in innovation — is what sets it apart. “We spend a lot of time on people,” he said. “If we don’t have a healthy culture, we won’t have happy customers.”

That philosophy translates into AWIP’s customer-first approach and its bold investment in internal talent development.

Insulated metal panels (IMPs) are at the core of AWIP’s offering, but it’s the company’s unmatched approach to selling and supporting them that truly sets them apart. The company combines its product line with design services, engineering, project management and now, a growing footprint in solar roofing solutions.

One standout innovation is their OneDek® assembly, a low-slope roofing solution that replaces up to seven traditional roofing layers with one integrated panel plus membrane. It simplifies everything — design, sourcing, labor and warranty management. As Greg stated, “When you reduce complexity, you reduce risk. When you reduce risk, you reduce cost.”

Sustainability is another pillar. Under their “Planet Passionate” initiative, AWIP is tackling big goals in energy, carbon, circularity and water use. Greg said the company is on or ahead of its 2030 targets. “There’s no way this doesn’t get done,” he stated firmly, pointing to new photovoltaic installations, zero-waste targets and foam recycling projects.

There’s more beneath the surface, solar strategy, fire-rated panel development, digital services, but that’s for another time. As Greg put it, “We promote Planet Passionate in the market because we should. People care about the environment more today than they ever have.”
