Jack Wagnon - Getting Aerial With SkyMeasure™

Roofing Road Trip with Jack Wagon
April 7, 2021 at 10:00 A.M.

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

How to increase closing rates, obtain more efficient operations and collect all-important property documentation.

In a recent Roofing Road Trips hosted by RCS Partner, Heidi J. Ellsworth, Jack Wagnon of SkyMeasure gives an aerial view of what this property measurement service from CoreLogic® offers to contractors. SkyMeasure is known for providing distinctly accurate roof measurement reports with high-resolution aerial imagery. Heidi and Jack discuss how roofing contractors can utilize aerial imagery and roof measurement reports to take their business to the next level.

Jack is the senior product manager for the SkyMeasure service by CoreLogic. In this position, Jack assists in creating product market strategies and builds products more effectively to meet the needs of the market.

“I stand at the intersection between sales, marketing, service and product operations, and make sure that we provide the best customer experience, the best solutions that meet the needs of today for our customers, in a cost-effective, results-oriented environment,” said Jack.

Jack describes SkyMeasure as an aerial measurement solution. The process behind producing such accurate roof measurements follows a relatively simple succession of steps. They start by using a variety of digital image assets and use ortho imagery, oblique imagery or LIDAR imagery to model a roof.

“And this gives us the ability to measure length, pitch, run, rise and a variety of different measurement elements within the roof report that gives the roofer the ability to assess the project prior to ever climbing up on the roof,” explained Jack. “[This also] gives the roofer data in which to compare and contrast their field observations, which ultimately drive a much more efficient estimate delivered to the customer, increasing your odds to win the job.”

The reports contractors receive back from SkyMeasure are incredibly detailed and allow for a lot of flexibility when using the data to help optimize a business. Jack describes the value of SkyMeasure as twofold; it is both a highly functional tool that improves accuracy of measurements in the field, increasing the profitability of your estimations, and an entrepreneurial opportunity that contractors can leverage to help scale their roofing business and improve their customer’s experience.

“Part of our mission here at SkyMeasure is to educate and make aware how [contractors] can evolve the simple management of their business moving forward, grow profitability, increase the number of estimates that they issue, improve the accuracy of the estimates, which translates to more efficient material ordering, which loops all the way back to project net margin,” said Jack. "We exist to help the construction industry move to that next level.”

Listen to the entire podcast to learn more about how you can use SkyMeasure to scale your roofing business.
