MCA Jeff Henry MetalCast

By Adam Cabrera.

Learn about the people working to provide the metal construction industry with unique networking opportunities, solutions and business expertise.

In a recent podcast, Heidi J. Ellsworth had the pleasure of speaking with Jeff Henry, the executive director of the Metal Construction Association (MCA). With a focus on promoting the use of metal in building construction, the MCA has become a leader in the metal construction industry. Here are some of the insights Jeff had to offer about the association's initiatives and what they do to support industry professionals.

The MCA boasts various committees that focus on different aspects of the industry. Jeff mentioned the product councils, which enable industry participants to address emerging issues, share concerns and develop strategies.

“We have an IMP council... a separate roofing panel, a metal equipment forming council, and then also an accessories' council,” Jeff explained. “The industry participants in those market sectors get together to talk about what are their emerging issues and common concerns.” These councils cover areas such as sheet metal, roll forming or ventilation just to name a few. Additionally, the MCA has committees dedicated to technical aspects, codes and standards and market development.

A key aspect of the MCA is the invaluable networking opportunities it provides. The association fosters a sense of community among its members, allowing competitors to share ideas, solutions and expertise. Contractors are encouraged to become involved and benefit from a variety of resources when they do. “Over the years, we started with our wall and roofing guidelines and how do you promote best practices. Today, we have over 80 whitepapers and technical bulletins all talking about how you accomplish best practice applications and use metal roofing and wall products,” Jeff says. Furthermore, contractors can attend MCA meetings, which offer a wealth of industry information and networking potential.

As the MCA celebrates its 40th anniversary, the association continues to lead the way in advancing the use of metal in construction and supporting the industry's growth and development.

Listen to the podcast to hear more about what the MCA does and how you too could get involved by becoming a member.
