How Metal-Era's New XL Gutter System Saves Time and Money

Metal-Era New XL Gutter System 11.3
November 6, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.

By Adam Cabrera

Gutters, an often-underestimated aspect of roofing, are essential to a complete and efficient roofing system.

A recent episode of Roofing Road Trips® goes into a topic that many might overlook but is essential for any building: gutters. Host Heidi J. Ellsworth joined by Eric Younkin, vice president of products and engineered services at Metal-Era, talk about the intricacies of gutter technology and Metal-Era's latest innovation, the GT-1 XL Gutter system.

Developed to complement the ES-1 standard for fascia and coping systems, the GT-1 is the same standard for gutters that aims to keep gutter systems intact during extreme weather conditions like high winds and storms. "Primary objective here is to ensure that the gutter stays intact through any type of natural occurrence,” Eric says.

The XL Gutter is Metal-Era's new offering designed to meet the demands of larger roofs, with sizes ranging from 8 to 14 inches. This new system eradicates the need for external brackets, thereby reducing labor costs significantly. Contractors have even reported labor savings of up to 60%.

One standout feature of the XL Gutter is its internal extruded aluminum bracket. "The elimination of the external bracket is key to having the gutter sit directly into that bracket," Eric said. “Once we set the gutter into our lower mounting hanger, it's set, it's flush.” Using this technology, the bracket not only improves aesthetics but also makes the installation process safer and more efficient.

For contractors interested in adopting the XL Gutter system, Metal-Era and its affiliate Hickman Edge Systems offer quick quotes and a range of standard sizes to streamline the purchase and installation process.

Read the transcript or Listen to the podcast to learn more about Metal-Era's XL Gutter system and how you can utilize it in your next project.
