Get the grip to match your grit!

SteelGrip Get the Grip

By SteelGrip SAMM®.

Using SteelGrip SAMM®’s Safety Assist Magnetic Mats helps keep you safer and more efficient on the roof.

Working on steel roofing presents unique challenges. It can be more physically demanding and dangerous than working with traditional asphalt shingles. Conditions of drizzle, light frost or pollen make walking a steel roof, no matter the pitch, hazardous.

But SteelGrip SAMM®’s Safety Assist Magnetic Mats can mitigate these challenges and help keep your crew safer on the job. One example is if a crew gets to a job in the morning, but frost developed overnight, the project might be delayed. If you lay two to three SAMM mats in place while standing on a ladder, then continue to prep for the job, giving them a bit of time, these mats will help melt the frost and magnetically adhere to the surface, making it safer to walk and work on! In work environments such as this, it is important to check the mats for good adhesion and only lay out new mats from stable places, such as the ladder or already stabilized mats.

While waiting for the mats to do their job, it’s the perfect time to unload your tools and get your work area prepped. The non-skid rubberized surface of the mats offers a great space to secure tools.

The mats work in a variety of unfavorable roof conditions. In addition to frost, the mats work on wet steel and pollen-covered steel.

Surprisingly, pollen season can be a challenging time to work and causes many falls and injuries to workers every year. But SAMM mats can help give you the grip you need. If you notice the grip is less than ideal when you lay out the mats, simply lift them up and wipe off any build-up from the underside of the mats with a rag or across your pant legs. They’re easy to clean and easy to use.

By avoiding these seasonal delays, SAMM mats can help you reach the roof peak and set anchors for harness tie-offs sooner and safer.

Coming in a variety of styles to accommodate virtually any steel roofing, these mats are not just limited to roofing and can be used for a variety of other tasks you might encounter.

SAMM mats' diamond-deck rubber surface allows contractors to place siding on a second story roof while standing on the first, improving efficiency while lending some protection to the surface underfoot. Tools and workers that don't slide around can save steel roofs from potential scratches and dents, not to mention the “look out below” factor of falling tools and or roofing technicians.

Maintenance jobs such as replacing ridge caps, foam strips or pipe or vent boots can be a simple project, or a dangerous, physically stressful one. SteelGrip SAMM® has found from talking to customers, both homeowners and contractors, that two to three sets (four to six mats) make maintenance work easier and safer. A builder with post frame crews will want five to ten sets (10-20 mats) to lay out walkways and work areas. SAMM mats allow your team to walk with confidence and relieve the back and leg stress that comes with the physical demands of installing a steel roof.

Help protect yourself, your team, your project and even your bottom line with a simple yet game-changing solution, a Safety Assist Magnetic Mat.
