DECRA® Roof in Garland, TX Survives High Winds of EF-4 Tornado

Post - DECRA Roof Survices Tornado
November 21, 2016 at 7:31 a.m.

The tornado tore through the neighborhood packing 200-mph high winds and the Decra® Roof stayed intact.

Garland, Texas is a community that sees its fair share of severe weather every spring and summer with hail and high winds regularly leaving roof damage behind each year.  Having grown up in west Texas, Mary Long-Smith was familiar with the weather challenges faced by homeowners in the area and she decided to install a DECRA stone-coated metal roof with a Lifetime Limited hail and 120-mph wind warranty.

“I was always enamored with the metal roofs growing up in the farming communities of West Texas,” Mary Long-Smith stated when asked why she chose a DECRA® roof. “I looked at standing seam metal but thought my neighbors, who all had composition roofs, would not be too thrilled with that.” It was at this time Andrew Jones from Southern Claims and Restoration, Inc. showed her the benefits and beauty of DECRA Roofing Systems.

“I love the quality, I love the warranty, I love that it covers the 120 mph winds.” The Smiths had their DECRA® Tile roof installed on November 4, 2015. On December 26, 2015 an EF4 tornado ripped through her neighborhood tearing a path through four Texas counties. The tornado killed 11 and injured 15 as it destroyed 600 buildings.

“When the tornado hit us it was at over 200 mph, and the roof stayed intact,” Mary said. “I believe that the good Lord in heaven and DECRA Roofing saved everything we have.” Garland, Texas and the Smiths are still cleaning up months later, but they will not have to worry about the roof over their heads.
