Building New Opportunity for Young Roofing Professionals

WTI Roofing Apprentice
October 6, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.

By Adam Cabrera.

Elevate your career and education simultaneously with the WTI apprenticeship program in roofing.

When considering career options, young professionals often overlook the roofing industry. However, Caden Aquino, a roof inspector with WTI Tremco, has a compelling pitch for those seeking a fulfilling career path. Featured in a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips, Caden shed light on the perks and possibilities the roofing industry offers, especially through the WTI apprenticeship program.

"Talked with friends and family, and finally got set up with [the apprenticeship] and it just kind of took off and I have loved it ever since," Caden said, describing his journey into roofing. He emphasized the program's key benefits, including free construction management courses and real-world work experience.

One of the primary draws is the apprenticeship program's free education. Young professionals can earn a construction management degree without accumulating student loan debt. Coupled with this is the invaluable work experience participants gain from day one, setting them apart in the job market.

"And then with this program, you get to go to college, you get to learn, like I said, and then you already have three, four years of experience and that helps a ton," Caden said.

Besides educational and work-related benefits, the WTI apprenticeship program is remarkably flexible. Participants can work and study simultaneously, accommodating those with busy schedules. In addition to this, the roofing industry offers a supportive and inclusive work environment. Colleagues often become friends, mentors and part of a close-knit community.

"The work environment, learning how to talk to people, communication skills, stuff like that. It's awesome," Caden said.

Indeed, roofing careers provide a unique blend of educational and practical experience, creating an enticing package for young professionals. If you're looking for a rewarding and fulfilling career, be sure not to discount roofing.
