Behind the roofline: Eagle’s architecture specialists

Behind the roofline: Eagle’s architecture specialists
April 14, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.

By Eagle Roofing Products.

Meet the team bringing hands-on expertise and real-time solutions to architects nationwide.

When architects hit a wall, Aaron Crabtree, David Vallas, and Michele Morse are often the ones who help them break through it — armed with concrete answers, not just concrete tile. As part of Eagle Roofing Product’s exclusive Architectural Account Representative Team, these industry veterans don’t just push product — they partner with professionals to solve design challenges, deliver continuing education and make sure every steep slope spec is smarter and stronger. This Q&A takes you inside their world, where color trends, sustainability goals and performance demands collide — and Eagle's team is always ready with a solution.

What resources does Eagle offer to specifiers? What makes concrete roof tile the ideal choice for specifiers in your region?

Aaron: Resources that Eagle offers to specifiers include mock-ups, samples, technical support, AIA/GBCI accredited courses for Lunch N’ Learns and much more! At Eagle, we are willing to work with you and go the extra mile to help in any way we can to efficiently get your projects where they need to be.

Choosing concrete tile means choosing a lifetime roof product that only gets stronger with age. It’s the only material in steep slope roofing that can make that claim. In the Southwest, concrete roof tile is the ideal choice for specifiers not only because of its strength but also because of its energy efficient attributes. Concrete roof tile offers reflectivity and thermal mass that results in an R2 value and can contribute to LEED credits.

In addition, concrete tile uses 100% natural raw materials and has a near net zero waste process that helps us focus on sustainability through our recycling and re-use activities in our plants. If you are looking for a product that is versatile and durable, concrete tile is the choice for you. Make the right choice for your next steep slope project and specify some Eagle tile!

On the East Coast, what are our most popular concrete roof tile colors? What colors do you anticipate will be top sellers in 2025, and why?

David: The last decade has seen design trends shift throughout the East Coast to a darker, sleeker, more modern look with the main character being a deep grey or charcoal tile. Although that design is still being strongly utilized, the East Coast is currently witnessing a shift in tile roofing color and design trends with homeowners increasingly opting for styles that blend aesthetics with functionality. Earth tones continue to dominate the market, with weathered wood and grey stone hues gaining popularity for their ability to complement a wide range of architectural styles and reflect a strong connection to nature.

Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, the most popular earth tone colors for tile roofing on the East Coast provide a warm and inviting aesthetic. Among these, deep browns are particularly favored for their richness and ability to evoke warmth, making them a staple choice for traditional homes. Shades like brown-gray and brown-tan are also gaining traction, as they blend seamlessly with other natural materials such as brick and stone. Additionally, earthy greens, including moss and olive tones, are becoming increasingly popular, offering a harmonious look that integrates well with the surrounding landscape. Overall, the emphasis on earth tones in tile roofing is set to continue as homeowners prioritize aesthetics that resonate with the natural environment.
