After installing DaVinci® Roofscapes products on homes throughout Texas, Kansas and Missouri for the past 15 years, the team at Absolute Construction is celebrating with the dedication of a “15-Year DaVinci Anniversary Home.” The project home, belonging to Donald and Susanne Gilmore of Flower Mound, Texas, just received a new DaVinci Multi-Width Slate composite roof in Slate Black, installed in a staggered pattern by Absolute Construction.
“From start to finish this project required a good deal of planning, coordination and craftsmanship,” according to Connor Wood, director of specialty roofing division for Absolute Construction out of Plano, Texas. “From building scaffolding to fit exactly around the house, to all the intricate flashing details needed surrounding the cast stone dormers and stucco receivers, to recreating the half round copper vents, every detail about this house was artfully handled. Reroofing this home correctly, and adding details that would last as long as the DaVinci roof, took lots of planning and expertise.”
For the month-long project, the skilled team at Absolute Construction worked together to reroof the 6,000-square-foot French Colonial style home. “This crew went above and beyond to accommodate our needs while making the construction period very easy on us,” says homeowner Donald Gilmore. “They worked in harmony with mutual respect, showed their professionalism every day and produced great results. It’s really an honor for our home to be showcased as the ‘15-Year DaVinci Anniversary Home’ for Absolute Construction because I can’t imagine one thing they could have done better on this job!”
During the past 15 years, the roofing team at Absolute Construction has guided more than 150 homeowners to investing in composite roofing from DaVinci Roofscapes. The Class A fire and Class 4 impact resistance rated roofing, coupled with resistance to strong winds and severe weather, make it a favorite for reroofing projects.
“More and more people are becoming interested in DaVinci roofs because while they’re on their third roof, they have neighbors whose DaVinci roof is still going strong,” says Connor. “Insurance companies are getting more difficult to deal with for wind and hail reimbursements, so people are looking for a roofing product that will truly last for decades. DaVinci is the answer. In addition, I’ve seen some people receive substantial savings off their annual homeowner insurance premiums by switching to a DaVinci roof. The Gilmores are actually getting 25 percent off their premiums since adding their new composite roof!”
For Susanne and Donald Gilmore, the decision to change to a DaVinci roof came for a variety of reasons. One was the lightweight nature of the composite tiles. While the couple wanted the look of real slate, they didn’t wish to reframe their house to support the weight of the heavy tiles. Nor were they interested in the costly budget needed for a natural slate roofing system.
“The impact rating and durability of the composite product made a big impression on us along with the warranty,” says Donald. “However, the realistic appearance of the lightweight synthetic slate was also important. It’s completely appropriate for our home’s style. The black slate tiles look great with our white stucco siding and the real cast stone around our windows. Susanne is a professional designer. She brought ideas to this house from the chateaus of Europe and her trips worldwide. This is our dream house, so it’s only fitting that we have our dream roof to top it off!”
