A Solution for Metal in Highly Corrosive Environments

DuPont Tedlar Metal in Highly Corrosive Environments
October 16, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.

By Cass Jacoby.

In a LIVE! FRSA interview, Corynn and Tara talk about bringing a metal coating solution to the industry.

Heidi interviews Corynn Sheridan, the global marketing manager at DuPont™ Tedlar® and Tara Faulkner, a business development manager at Metal Alliance LIVE! at the FRSA expo! The three discuss Tedlar film and why it is taking the metal industry by storm!

“Tedlar is a very thin film. So, it's applied the same way as a coating is on a coil coating line. So it has an adhesive on one side, it's laid down, baked through an oven, and then it's basically part of the metal system,” explains Corynn. “It is extremely fade-resistant...and it's also extremely chemically resistant and very flexible.”

This chemical resistance is part of the massive appeal of Tedlar film to metal roofing projects. In highly corrosive environments like the beach, this film continues to stand the test of time, protecting metal without the need to do a freshwater rinse. For these reasons, Tedlar has been selected for a number of projects to great success.

“Tedlar currently has been going on various types of application residential, commercial. We recently did some resorts with the Tedlar product, both in Hilton Head and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Both projects were highly successful,” says Tara. “There is so much value in having a product that has such great success with longevity. That can be used in the coastal environment and perform in an incredible way for success.”

The easy maintenance and longevity of the film have everyone excited about this product as a coastal solution. For DuPont™ Tedlar® and Metal Alliance, the excitement comes not only from providing such a stellar solution for metal roofing on the coast, but additionally working together.

“We've been growing great together, working really well together,” says Corynn. “It's been very cool to be here and actually meet contractors who've worked with the product, and who are excited about installing it.”
