A practical option for ponding water

BITEC’s GreenSlope® helps contractors create positive slopes, address low spots and prepare problem areas for compatible waterproofing systems.
Ponding water can complicate maintenance on flat rooftops, particularly when low areas prevent water from moving toward drains or scuppers.
BITEC’s GreenSlope® is a roof leveling compound designed to fill those low spots and create positive slopes across a range of roofing substrates. Its versatility makes it useful for both corrective work and preventive maintenance.
1 – It addresses more than one drainage challenge
GreenSlope can be used in ponding areas, around low drains or scuppers, as a pitch pan filler and to create crickets behind heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units. It can also build slope in gutters and behind chimneys on shingled roofs.
2 – It works with multiple roof types
Compatible substrates include polyvinyl chloride (PVC), ketone ethylene ester (KEE), thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) single-ply membranes, along with modified bitumen, built-up roofing, metal roofing, spray polyurethane foam and shingles.
3 – Contractors can shape it to the project
GreenSlope mixes with a polyurethane binding adhesive to create a trowel-grade material that can be spread, compressed and shaped using a trowel or straight edge. The product can be applied over or under the roof membrane.
4 – Its weight can help limit added roof load
According to the technical product information, GreenSlope weighs approximately half as much as the water it displaces and significantly less than cementitious alternatives. The formulation is also low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
5 – It is usually coatable the same day
Cure time can vary based on application thickness, ambient temperature and other jobsite conditions. In many applications, GreenSlope is ready to receive compatible coatings or membranes the same day once the material has firmed sufficiently to remain stable during application.
Preparation matters
Proper preparation remains essential. BITEC directs contractors to thoroughly clean and dry the area, complete needed repairs and verify compatibility when there is uncertainty about a substrate or topcoat.
