By Jonny Suchor.

Considering the impact the current labor shortage has on the roofing industry, this labor staffing agency has stepped in to help.

While the roofing industry continues to face a labor shortage, companies are finding creative solutions to attract labor. One way is through labor staffing agencies. Southeast Contracting Services in a Roofing Road Trips® episode to explore the current labor shortage and showcase how Southeast Contracting Services helps connect contractors and businesses with reliable labor across the country.

“My company provides labor force to the roofing industry and other industries. And usually, what we do, we send people out of town to work anywhere our clients may need,” says Teresa. “We have a lot of good people.”

Southeast Contracting Services specializes in addressing current and future job vacancies by supplying reliable labor to various industries, primarily focusing on roofing. They are dedicated to aligning qualified workers who are willing to travel and learn new trades with the unique needs of their clients.

Located in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV), Teresa works with many people who travel up north during the busy season and return to RGV in the winter to be close to their families. But how does Teresa determine who is a qualified worker? She explains, “We go through a face-to-face interview, which is very important because you need to see the worker and see what conditions the worker is in. Also, we go through a drug test and criminal background. And we believe in second chances very strongly. But we will clarify to our client, ‘Okay, this is what we have,’ and if they're happy with what we have, then we send the people to their job locations.”

Not only does Southeast Contracting Services help find the right fit for laborers, but they also provide various services for them throughout their contracted time. Teresa shares, “We provide workers' compensation, which is very good because we are in Texas. So, we go through the Texas Workers Compensation. If it's in another state, we need to figure out what is the best price we can provide, but also, we provide in any state of the U.S., except California, Illinois, Wyoming and South Dakota.” And Teresa maintains clear communication with the laborers they place. She explains, “Sometimes they feel maybe shy to ask all these questions to the people up north, to big companies.”

Sometimes they say, “Ms. Teresa, I’d rather talk to you, because I feel comfortable talking and expressing myself of what my expectations are."

Whether your project is two months or six months, you need one worker or four, or your project involves TPO installations, shingles or other skills, a resource like Southeast Contracting Services can help contractors match with the ideal crew they need to get their projects completed.
