$20 a month can catch thousands in overcharges

A streamlined invoice review process is helping one roofing company uncover costly discrepancies while saving time and protecting margins.
Running a family owned roofing company means wearing plenty of hats. At Bluegrass Roofing, Taber Walls handles bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, marketing, business development, lead scheduling and more. With so many responsibilities competing for attention, carefully reviewing every supplier invoice simply was not realistic. Taber explained, “I don't have time to look at every single invoice line item by line item.” That challenge put InvoiceIQ on the company’s radar.
After learning about the platform and meeting with the InvoiceIQ team, Taber quickly saw its potential. Getting started required sending over Bluegrass Roofing’s price sheet and invoices. When additional product codes were needed, she worked with SRS to provide the exact information so invoices could be matched accurately. Reflecting on the setup, Taber noted, “It is truly so easy.”
The simplicity comes with measurable value. Taber said InvoiceIQ costs $20 per month, while the discrepancies it has identified have already more than covered that expense. Looking at the results from the current year alone, she explained, “We've paid for it for three years.” A review of previous invoices also uncovered thousands of dollars in potential overcharges, reinforcing how quickly relatively small pricing differences can accumulate.
Bluegrass Roofing receives its InvoiceIQ report every Monday, matching the company’s weekly accounts payable schedule. The report identifies the invoices and line items reviewed, what matched correctly and what did not. When discrepancies appear, Taber forwards the report to SRS, making the review process part of the company’s regular workflow.
Beyond catching overcharges, the process provides confidence that material costs align with the pricing used to calculate job margins. Taber emphasized, “It just gives us the peace of mind of knowing this is handled.”
For a business where time is limited, spending $20 a month on a process that can uncover thousands in discrepancies has transformed invoice review from a task that could fall by the wayside into a consistent safeguard for the company’s margins.
