Hi,

I am new to the forum. I have a simple question for you roofers. I have been tasked to replace the roof for a sister in law. I am more than happy to give her a discount, but I still feel like my time is valuable.  The roof is approximately 2,000 sq feet. Does anyone have experience with doing jobs for family? Or ideas of what I should charge? She will be buying the materials. So I am just interested in what you guys feel would be an appropriate charge for labor only.

Thanks!

Typically when I charge family/friend, they pay for materials and I will charge according to the job. What do you feel your time is worth? Is it going to be an easy job or a hard one? Deck replacement? Do you have all the tools you need? Try to bounce some number off them. Get an idea on what they want to spend and bounce some of your own numbers off of them.
