Purlins and Polyico

How do I install purlins with 1 1/2" polyico for standing seam? I see some guys dont use purlins they just go thru the foam board. This cant be secure is it?

As long as it's wood deck, I haven't had a problem.
Metal underlayment iso deck
Solid as a rock.
