Here we go....This ough to cause a ruckus....

Realizing it's a given that the public schools are venues for the progressives to indoctrinate our children, it still never ceases to amaze me!

"Bullying" is the lates rage/focus/buzz-word and the hypocrisy/stupidity displayed by the dominant liberal/progressive falculties, is rampant.

Here is but ONE example recently experienced by our family. A little girl wrote a couple of notes to my 9 yr. old son in class that he was "stupid"....A week or two previous to this, the school had set up some type of internet chat-room for the 3rd graders....So, my son goes home and returns the girls message by writing her "your stupid _______"....The principle of the schooll calls the cops!...."Cyber-bullying", the latest buzz-word....Never mind that little Jose can beat on my kid all he wants, and when my kids knocks the crap out of him, my son get's the reprimand. Or when my son asks little Jose why he doesn't at least cover his heart when the pledge of allegience is said' Jose replies' ..." I don't have to, because I'm Mexican"....

A teacher went so far as to go to my son's martial arts school/instructor in attempts to slander my son, whereas she didsn't get the response she was expecting!....When it comes to bullys/physical attacks, it's pretty-much "beat-down time", until 12th grade....

If you guys want some great ideas on how to run a school system, start checking the detnews.com site and read about Detroit public schools. For years, they have had declining enrollments but the union wouldn't allow staff layoffs and no one wanted to consolidate the building usage. This went on for dedades.

The end result was that some schools were paying out gross numbers per pupil. I think the highest I read about was $36,000 per student! And they are flunking out their students at better than 60%.

No one could do anything about it because the system is so rigged against opposing parties that might get voted in and try to fix things. Ultimately, "emergency managers" had to take over and now they are closing more than 50 schools. The teachers are now going to have classes with 60 kids in them!

All of this could have been avoided if the adults cared about the basic business of keeping the doors open. Its obvious that they didn't care about anything other than their own paychecks and pensions.

The system is corrupt and broken. The only thing that will fix it will be someone other than a Democrat in charge. Snyder, in MI, took over and now there are emergency powers to fix all the bankrupt cities/school systems.

Let the gnashing begin....30 years too late.

Excellent story Robby and the perfect ending too! Vote with your shoe leather.

Robby; I agree w/you....

What we have here, is a resort community that is so reliant on the illegal workforce it exploits, it has come to be overly protective, absurdly accomodating, as well as tolerant of their anti-American attitudes, to the point the illegals can do no wrong.

They use the term "diversity"....It's diverse all right....Completely diverse....Our church has services in Spanish, and another in English.....There are two completely different religious communities under an alleged, one church.

The mexican-speaking, (Spanish slang), kids in the schools separate themselves from the others whenever possibly...The faculties allow this, which propagates the separation/diversity amongst the students.

It goes without saying; The schools of course, are run by liberals,(far left liberals). It's hilarious how they, (the lib faculty), typically tell the parents or anyone that may dissagree with them, that the parents need to be more "open-minded"....I for one, am sick & tired of hearing the pot-calling-the-kettle-black thing....These teachers/administators are in their own, little world of self-perceived reality, completly ignorant of the world outside their little educational bubble....

I think we've found an alternative to the public schools here.

Robby the Roofer Said: Fun facts for everyone......

1. We owe 13 trillion dollars in debt 2. There are 310 million people in the U.S. 3. When you account for 9% unemployment, that becomes 282.1 million working stiffs 4. Can we pay off this debt? Yes we can! Did Clinton say three years....well in three years the debt will be paid off if every working stiff paid 1254 an MONTH! That is on top of the taxes we pay as workiers and employers pay as businesses. I cant afford that every month. 5. We could pay off the debt over a 20 year period...that would cost every working stiff $192 a month. A little better, but that means we can not borrow any more money for 20 years...fat chance that will happen

Borrowing money is a part of our society.....we are lucky we are not in China or Russia...How would your life look then...

Robby: The 310 million population count includes every man, woman and child in the U.S.(maybe even illegal aliens). Obviously, a good portion of that number does not pay taxes. Your formula needs some serious revision.

Why only AFTER Obama was elected have Republicans decided they must change their big spending ways? 30 yrs. too late if you ask me.

Perhaps you haven't noticed that Obama created more debt than all of the other presidents combined? He's increased debt in such a shocking way that it's now become apparent to everyone (including the far left) that we cannot continue on this shocking path.

Don't you have any concern at all that we will be bankrupt if we don't radically alter our spending?

wywoody,

I'll bet things have changed a lot, even if it's not been that long since your kids were in school.

I'm in my mid 40's, and I had a great HS experience. My dad was a school board member for years (after I graduated), and yet, by the 3rd grade, I took my oldest son out of public school until HS, the next two went to a Baptist school. Middle child left for public school in 7th grade and graduates this year. He is begging us to do everything we can to keep his little sister from going there.

My sister is a school teacher in a very conservative southern district, and even she is just shocked at what's happening.

It's deteriorating very rapidly.

Our public schools get about 9K per student. The superior private school my kids attended is at $2640/yr............ and OneBigAssMistakeAmerica wants to throw more money into the system.

Tom, this whole country is going downhill, but at least the newer generations can say they fell good as they go down with it. ;)

Patty Cakes Said: I went to Catholic Schools in NYC , 12 years. When you bring large amount of children together, you will have scirmages. I personally was never envolved with fights. Today it is now bullying. Horrible. Repeating myself, power in numbers. It is false enumeration. It can happen anywhere public or private. I dont think it makes a differnce.

My early youth was in Scotland, teachers ruled the roost with leather belts. If anyone stepped out of line we were punished in front of the class and got the strap. It was legal then. I dont agree with physical punishment but it kept us all in line. Yes as kids we all have our battles but today the battles are brutal. Punch the guy in the face , you dont have to shoot them, you dont have to rally others to be abusive. This bullying thing is becomeing a fad. The thing to do. I feel very sorry for any child experiencing it. PC

That explains some things then! My wife came out of one of those nuneries too. Whenever you get an escapee from a nunnery, you have one wild woman on your hands!

wywoody Said: st hired her as a tutor.

I realize that quality and perceptions of public schools varies across the country. I often hear conservative talkers belittle a public school education. My daughter worked in Virginia and her coworkers there were surprised that she was both smart and educated in public schools. But the kids in public schools are your nieghbors. If your kids are too good to go to school with them why would you live among them?

You've drawn the wrong conclusion.

People talk about the decline of public schools because we want them to change and to be come responsible educators. We want them to leave politics out of their policies and just TEACH! If we can't talk about the problems in the school systems, how will we ever fix it?

We don't need less talk about it, we need more talk about it. Talking about it doesn't mean we "think our kids are too good to got to ....."

FYI I attended both public and private schools in my youth. I coached varsity and jv soccer at a public school. It was my observation that in my youth, the teachers ruled the roost. Now, the students have the upper hand.

I went to public schools. My wife went to Catholic schools. They've all changed....We've looked at them all....The "PC"/liberal/progressive, (whatever one wants to call it), has infected and taken over, pretty-much, the entire educational envioronment.

Our boys did attend a smnall montessori school up til a couple years ago, so entering the public school system has been a trying experience, to say the least....They were leaps & bounds ahead,(several grade levels), in their respective age/grades, however have been subjected to a very slow-paced/remedial experience these last couple of yrs. The focus has not been academia,(is that a word?), but rather "tolerance"/feel-good/everybody's a winner garbage....And teaching our kids to speak Mexican, (I say Mexican, because they're not teaching proper Spanish, but rather conversational/slang Mex/Spanish), rather than teaching the spawn of the illegals to speak English....There, I said it...Some would take that as racist. It's not. It's simply the truth.

The educators, in particualr the administators, are completely out-of-touch and continue to head in the absolute wrong direction in my opinion. As an example; Very early in his public school experience, my son had to subdue an attacker. Actually, in all fairness, I will say that particular principle did respect my son's position of "not going with the herd mentallity". However, one of the faculty had said that, "physical violence is not tolerated here"....I responded by referring to my son's previous school whereas no one ever hit anyone, due to the fact they new if they hit someone, more than likely they'd get the same, or worse, in return....Therefore you had mutual respect, and quite frankly, there was far less physical violence, than we were experiencing in this public school, where kids were demonized for defending themselves! They not only tolerated it, they encouraged it, as there was no consequences for the perp!

Sorry for the rant....
