:woohoo: I looked at one today that has some issues. Can you spot the leak?
:woohoo:
I had one lady that did not want to pay me because she did not see any roof cement on the slates I replaced.
I had to explain to her that you are not supposed to see where the slate are fastened. I had to educate her how the slate will leak when they are face nailed and tarred.
I had to explain that water will stick to the slate and may not leak inside the house for a long time when face nailed.
We have customers on a yearly slate maintence contract. We will clean the gutters and fix anything on the roof up to a set number of slates. If they have face nailed slate we replace a set number of face nailed ones each year till it is back to original.
I'm imagining them saying a phrase when they walked away that gives them some self satisfaction. Maybe a "That ought to do her!" Or "Ain't no way that's gonna leak!"
Whenever I see a bunch of tar all over everything it's re-do it all time and get rid of all the tar in the process. Doesn't really matter the exact source of the leak since it's all being replaced with new. That's shingle roofs though. May be different on slates.
