Press Release: Roofing Louisiana (Owner Billy Savely) announced the winner of our quarterly "Roof Give Away" to a family in need 3/31/11 and the new roof (Sponsored by OC - Blake Talley) was put on this weekend. Over 1400 submissions - a demographic we normal (never) see. Families in our own community need help, and if I can't help a needy family every 3 months - shame on me (new businesses, just on your feet - I understand, you're trying to make it). does seem like shameless self promotion. only because of all the mentions of his company name and links, but the underlying concept of the thread i do like. helping out those less fortunate. last year i roofed a friends house. he has an addition that has a flat roof on it and had leaks all over. he has 3 kids and doesnt make much money, but is a good man. the roof was only 12 sq., and the previous roofer had cut a canal into the roof cuz it had almost no pitch.the canal leaked like a siv. so i had him and a couple of our friends and and his brother tear off and reframe the canal to make flat again. i had a plumber buddy install an internal drain and added a tapered system. at the end of the day my buddy was so tired he said to me i cant beleive you do this everyday. they all had a new found respect for roofing, lol. his wife cooked dinner for all of us, we all sat around with some beers. his wife and kids sleep dry now with no worries. that was all the payment i needed.
