I've had cell phone service with a number of different companies over the years. For the past 30 or so months I've had my service with Verizon. Generally speaking, I've been very happy with the service. The actual phones are another story. I suspect I'm tougher on a cell phone then most people. I drop the damn thing almost every time I get out of my truck because I place it on the seat after digging it out of my pocket when the phone rings while I'm buckled in. I don't know what's wrong with me but I laugh at my stupidity every time it hits the pavement.
Anyway, how long should a cell phone last? Generally, I get a significant discount on the phone if it's purchased along with a commitment to a two year contract. My problem is that the phone wont last as long at the contract. I never use the insurance because I cant wait 72 hrs. when the phone breaks. BTW, I average 3 phones a year.

Just recently got an i phone 5 and became liberated!
I love my iPhone. I use it all day everyday. I listen to Pandora all afternoon. I get my email and can reply instantly. I check the weather forecast and look at the radar. I can track other phones on my plan and see exactly where they are. I can access all my credit card accounts and bank accounts instantly. What did we do before cell phones. Oh . . . I almost forgot . . . I can make and receive phone calls too.
Hi. My name's Jeff, and I can't stop putting my cell phone on the seat...............................
We're here for ya, buddy.>>>
I buy my phones on Ebay...... >>>
I remember my first Cell phone, they now call it the Brick, it looked like a military walkie talkie, but it was Kool @ the time. Can You Hear Me Now..... I think we have come along way sense then.>>>
Hi Jeff,
I have Nextel since the begining. 9 years maybe longer.
My phones last a long time. When something does go wrong, I talk to the manager of the store. He opens up the drawer on his desk and pulls out a used one. Makes a phone call and I am back on the road. Usaully costs me $40.>>>
We Have verizon. like the service.like the amount of my bill for how many phones & internet cards we have but just lately the phones are a little junky.>>>
Old School ->>>
If you were a girl you could put your cellphone in your bra like I do. You should see the looks when I reach in to get it. Blackberry from Verizon.>>>
 HOP!
I've dropped my GZOne about 12' while open. Still does fine. Many members here and elsewhere use Verizon and the 'In-Calling doesn't use any minutes, as TRG pointed out.>>>
Get some self-stick Velcro - slap the rough side on the dash and the fuzzy part on the back of the phone. It will be in sight and you'll get used to it. We use Nextel and there are several Motorola phones that are covered in a rubber case and take falling rather well. We have one that has survived several 30+ foot falls with only a broken antenna. Ask if they have anything like that.>>>
Mike H - I'm not really sure if I run the business or the business runs me.
Regarding the use of the cup holder, of course that makes sense but old habits are hard to break. For some it's smoking cigarettes, other it's internet porn, but for me, I'm addicted to putting my cell phone on the seat after using it in my truck. I sure wish there was a support group for my addiction. I know it stupid but somehow I feel powerless over it. Besides, if I use my cup holder for my cell phone, I'll just end up putting my beverage on my seat and I think that would be worse.>>>
Wouldn't this problem be easily solved by putting the dang phone in a cup holder, a dash holder, the freekin' ashtray.................... ANY PLACE BUT THE SEAT OR YOUR LAP?
You really run a roofing biz, huh? ;)>>>
