Apprenticeship program

Roofing Contractors Association of Nova Scotia describes apprenticeship as a proven “earn-while-you-learn” model that combines hands-on field experience with professional classroom instruction. In Nova Scotia, the roofing trade is a recognized and respected profession with a clear path to becoming a certified journeyperson. The roofing apprenticeship program is designed to give apprentices a deep understanding of modern building envelopes and roofing systems, typically involving three to four 12-month periods, a minimum of 5,400 hours under supervision and three six-week blocks of intensive technical training. Successful completion leads to the Red Seal Examination, and the Red Seal endorsement allows certified roofers to work anywhere in Canada without further examination.
