Duhamel Couverture Named "Best of the Best 2025"

The results are in. After rigorous evaluation by our international panel of slate experts, Duhamel Couverture has been named the winner of the Best of the Best 2025 competition.

The Best of the Best isn’t just a contest, it’s our commitment to recognizing the art of natural slate roofing and the value of work executed to the highest professional standards. Every entry showcases what makes natural slate the premier roofing material: durability, sustainability, and timeless beauty.

This year’s competition drew 35 elite roofing companies worldwide, but one project distinguished itself through exceptional technical execution. Our five-member jury was comprised of industry veterans Matt Timby, Heidi J. Ellsworth, Severino González, Henri Lefin, and Sébastien Therenty. Entries were scored based on three critical criteria: technical difficulty, aesthetic excellence, and finish quality.

Final Standings:

Winner: Duhamel Couverture (France) – 19 points

Second Place: Haesen Rik Dakwerken (Belgium) – 11 points

Third Place: The Durable Slate Company (USA) – 9 points

Simple Installation Method

Faster and easier real slate roofing: a 4-step installation that requires neither specific traditional slate knowledge nor specialized accessories.

1. Lay the first READYSLATE® panel down and nail each piece of slate using the pre-punched holes provided. Once fitted, peel back the protective film.

2. READYSLATE® modular design makes laying slate tiles a breeze. Aligning panels is even easier; just cover the waterproof sheet area at the right.

3. Start the second course by a half piece of slate. All READYSLATE® modules are marked with an overlapping line to ensure all modules are correctly laid.

4. Repeat, easily adapting panels to any roof element, to complete your own waterproof, resistant and eco-friendly real slate roof.
