What’s it Like Being a Dispatcher at Tremco WTI?

Tremco WTI WTI Dispatcher
September 5, 2019 at 6:00 a.m.

By Karen L. Edwards, RCS Editor.

A dispatcher that works from home isn’t something that you see often in the roofing industry.

At Tremco’s Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. (WTI) dispatchers working from home is the norm. The last few months we’ve been talking to people in different positions at WTI to learn more about the wonderful culture the company has created for its employees. Everyone we’ve talked to has nothing but positive things to say about the company. That theme is continuing in the case of the two dispatchers that we talked to recently, Kristen Crandall and Julianne Robinson.

Julianne said that the first thing that interested her about working for the company in the role of a dispatcher was the ability to work from home. That really offered the flexibility that she was looking for in a full-time position. For Kristen it gave her the opportunity to be able to dispatch again as that was one of her passions and she wanted to work in a fast-paced environment.

Each day, Kristen and Julianne dispatch and schedule jobs for multiple technicians, they respond to emergency calls, track open service orders, and communicate with the technicians, supervisors and sales reps. Their days are busy and go by fast. In fact, Kristen said that she learned quickly to take her shower first thing in the morning before beginning work because, “I realized if I don’t do this right away in the morning, I won’t likely be able to until the end of the day.”

The days are fulfilling as well. It’s often the little things that mean a lot. For Julianne it’s when the techs are on top of it and update all their service orders and Kristen loves the good conversations that she has with her team. The job can bring some challenges as well. Julianne said one of her biggest challenges is availability of the technicians and Kristen noted that communication can be a challenge since not everyone is sitting at a desk ready to answer their phones.

Both women agree on one thing – they love their jobs. Besides being able to hang out with her cat all day, Kristen loves that she feels appreciated and gets to use her creativity to get the job done. Julianne loves how willing everyone is to help and that they are a team with the same goal – to take care of the customers.

If this sounds like the kind of team you want to be part of, you’re in luck because they are hiring! You can check out the job openings online here.
