The Coffee Shops™ welcome National Roof Deck Contractors Association!

The Coffee Shops™ welcome National Roof Deck Contractors Association!
May 28, 2026 at 9:00 p.m.

NRDCA brings roof deck expertise, education and collaboration to the growing Coffee Shops™ community.

The Coffee Shops™, the award-winning online communities where the industries meet for technologies, safety, information and education for the construction trades of roofing, metal, coatings and outdoor living are pleased to welcome National Roof Deck Contractors Association (NRDCA) into their community.

Headquartered in Savannah, Georgia, the NRDCA is an association dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the market growth of lightweight insulating concrete decks, cementitious wood-fiber roof decks and related roof deck applications. There are a variety of materials roof decks can be made of, from concrete to steel to wood fiber, but the common factor across each variant is that the deck is the core of every great roof assembly.

NRDCA raises awareness by bringing together contractors, manufacturers and designers in one place to discuss the selection, design and installation of roof deck systems that “maximize building performance and owner value.” An example of a product of this union of professionals is the AIA Registered “Engineered Roof Deck Systems” Program.

This initiative sends NRDCA members to different programs and events to present three composite roof deck systems – mineral board-steel, lightweight insulating concrete and cementitious wood fiber. After attending a presentation from this program, contractors can expect to walk away understanding:

  • The different structural properties and benefits of each system in the face of wind uplift and downward loads.
  • How roof decks relate to code requirements and LEED values.
  • The role of roof decks in insulation, fire protection and acoustical performance.
  • How to repair poured gypsum roof decks (popular in the 1940s-1960s).

Overall, this program embodies NRDCA’s role as an advocate for these specialized roof deck systems and is just one of the ways they share their expertise and knowledge to build a better future for the industry.

The Coffee Shops are proud to welcome National Roof Deck Contractors Association (NRDCA)!
