Choosing a fluid-applied roofing system leads to tax and energy savings for building owners.

Building owners who decide to install American Weatherstar’s fluid-applied roofing systems can take advantage of many incentives for tax savings and energy savings.

Tax Deduction Receive up to $.60/sf based on total project (roof and/or walls) when you can show a reduction in energy consumption of 10% or more. The customer will need an energy calculation and a compliance statement for their file. We can assist with providing this documentation.

Expense Deduction Year 1 Roof and wall coating applications are viewed by the IRS as a maintenance and repair item (comparable to “painting” the building) and thus are not considered a new roof or roof replacement. The customer may expense the project in its entirety the year of application.

Utility Rebates Depending on location, many utility companies may be offering a rebate for coatings projects up to $.50/sf based on project size. The customer may also receive a rebate based on dollars/kilowatt reduction. To qualify, an application with pre and post-job inspection is typically required.

LEED & Green Building Certification A customer with a registered LEED project can realize points through 5-7 other categories where our products can contribute. This is dependent upon the construction parameters of each individual project. Visit usgbc.org for more information.

Instant Savings Our products can reduce your energy usage by helping to reduce internal HVAC loads, create comfortable working environments within your building by improving thermal comfort, and substantially reduce the carbon footprint created by you building with the Urban Heat Island effect.

Sustainable Building Design With our sustainable “reuse” there is no tear-off required prior to application. The tear cost ($1.00/sf avg.) plus the cost of transporting tear-off material to a landfill ($.30/sf avg.) are eliminated. Our restoration systems also come with a wide variety of sustainable and renewable warranty options.
