When roofer Scott Kim made a deal to re-roof six townhomes on the same street in Reston, Virginia he knew he’d need snow guards. A LOT of snow guards. The owner of WGM Contracting out of Fairfax, Virginia didn’t hesitate. He contacted Rocky Mountain Snow Guards to place his order for RG16 snow guards in a Dark Bronze color.
“We were replacing deteriorated real shakes on six different townhomes with DaVinci Select Shake,” says Scott. He went on, “Composite roofing products need snow retention assistance. And we’ve successfully installed RG-16s before on DaVinci products. It’s definitely one of our ‘go to’ products.”
Made specifically for installation with synthetic and natural slate and shake roofs, the 16-inch long metal snow guards require a minimum of three ring-shank nails per unit during installation.
“The townhouses on Chapel Cross Way are close together on this street,” says Scott. “It’s really smart that we’ve installed the snow guards to help prevent against avalanching of snow on key entrance and walkway areas. These durable RG16 snow guards will definitely be an asset when winter weather comes to town.”
