Roofing Alliance funding requests are due January 1, 2023.

The Roofing Alliance announces its annual Call for Funding for initiatives that will contribute to the advancement and growth of the roofing industry. The deadline for funding applications is January 1, 2023.

Each year, the Roofing Alliance provides funding for research, educational initiatives and technical programs that address current issues and work to secure the future of the roofing industry.

“The Roofing Alliance is committed to providing funding for programs that fulfill a research need in our industry that contributes to advancing and enriching the roofing industry,” said Executive Director Alison LaValley, CAE. “We are especially interested in supporting initiatives that align with our four pillars, including education and training, technology, sustainability and philanthropy.”

Requests for funding are a three-step process:

Step 1 - Letters of inquiry should provide a brief explanation about the submitter and project to be supported. If the project aligns with and falls within the Roofing Alliance’s current vision, mission and program of work, a written proposal may be invited. Inquiries should be directed to Alison L. LaValley, CAE at alavalley@nrca.net

Step 2 – Written proposals are more extensive and should include:

  • A thorough description of the project, its objectives and significance, scope of work, deliverable, as well as the qualifications and roles of participants.
  • Plan for promoting the finished project and potential revenue sharing opportunities for the Roofing Alliance if applicable.
  • Value to the Roofing Alliance and why Roofing Alliance funding is being requested.
  • A specific request, project budget and supporting documentation, including a timeline and completion date.

Step 3 – Board review. All funding requests will initially be screened by Roofing Alliance staff, but all funding authority rests with the Roofing Alliance board of trustees.

Requests for funding are accepted from industry partners, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, research and consulting firms, and related industry organizations. Several of the most recent projects that have been funded include working with Clemson University to develop three roofing-specific elective courses for students that also lead to a formal Roofing Certificate, as well as a fellowship opportunity with Arizona State University, and the recent Faculty Retreat on Roofing provided for college faculty who are interested in incorporating roofing classes into their curriculum.

Funding requests are due by January 1, 2023. For information on specific criteria and the funding review process please visit the Roofing Alliance website. To learn more about the Roofing Alliance, please contact Alison L. LaValley, CAE at alavalley@nrca.net or visit roofingalliance.net.
