RoofersCoffeeShop Wants You to Join us in Washington DC for Roofing Day and We Are Buying!

RCS Washington DC
March 13, 2019 at 9:26 a.m.

By Heidi J. Ellsworth, RCS Partner.

Join the roofing industry at Roofing Day in D.C. April 3rd as the Coffee Shop’s guest.

Last year, when we found out about the first Roofing Day, Vickie Sharples, RCS Partner said, “I have been invited to attend and represent the roofing industry at the NRCA Roofing Day. My hesitance is that although I am deeply involved in this industry, I do not feel qualified to be your representative. RoofersCoffeeshop prides itself as giving YOU a voice.  We don’t directly experience your frustrations, we just give you a place to communicate it.”

We were honored last year to have Jon Stantz of Pell Roofing, Indiana, join Tim and I as we attended the first Roofing Day and hosted Jon as our guest.  My husband Tim and Jon became best friends but beyond that Jon represented the working men and women of our industry in a way that humbled us. We were so proud of him that we asked him to be a 2019 RCS Influencer. The talent and wisdom that is in this industry is inspirational.

So, we are doing it again.  We are offering one roofing contractor the opportunity to take Vickie’s place again this year!  You will be joining Tim and I as we partner with roofing professionals from across the country to take your concerns to Washington, D.C.  RoofersCoffeeShop will cover the registration fee, airfare and hotel, so you can attend this historic event as Roofers March on Washington!

To apply for the spot, submit a quick note to Vickie@rooferscoffeeshop.com  by Friday, March 22nd and we will select from the pool of interested contractors.  Don’t wait, we want to get your travel booked.

For those of you not interested in taking Vickie’s place but can make the time to attend, please sign up at https://www.nrca.net/roofingday.

As Vickie so wisely said, “Think about this when considering participating - if our NRCA Executive Director, former congressman and roofing contractor, Reid Ribble, didn’t think we could make a difference he wouldn’t have organized it.  This is an amazing opportunity to do something for the industry you make your livelihood in.”

A last note, if you are interested, we will also host our guest at the first annual NWIR Women’s Luncheon.  The location for the luncheon is Charlie Palmer Steak, located at 101 Constitution Avenue NW, 9th Floor.  Networking & registration begins at 11am, luncheon & keynote speaker at 11:30am on April 3, 2019.

Here is additional information from NRCA's website:

Roofing Day in D.C. 2019 is the premier roofing industry advocacy event, bringing together hundreds of roofing professionals from all segments of the industry to speak with one voice on critical issues before lawmakers in Congress. On April 3-4, 2019, Capitol Hill will hear from the roofing industry like never before.

Last year's Roofing Day was the first annual industrywide advocacy event designed to fulfill NRCA's vision for raising our industry profile and expanding our influence on policymaking in Washington, D.C. The inaugural event was a resounding success with more than 400 participants from all industry segments in states as far as Hawaii and Alaska. This event made a lasting impression on members of Congress. Soon after Roofing Day participants advocated for a bill to improve career and technical education, Congress approved the legislation and President Trump signed it into law.

Roofing Day in D.C. 2019 will build on this success to further strengthen our industry message and influence. To make an even greater impact in 2019, we need strong participation from a broad cross-section of the industry, including employers, roof system installers and others from all sectors of the industry. Congress needs to hear from you about what is important to the roofing industry!

Join your industry colleagues April 3-4, 2019, as hundreds of roofing professionals from throughout the U.S. gather in Washington, D.C., to meet with their respective members of Congress about the most important issues facing our industry.  Learn more at https://www.nrca.net/About-Roofing-Day-2019
