Discover roofing solutions that help drive innovation, advance sustainability, increase education and more when you visit Owens Corning's booth during IRE.

Owens Corning is highlighting residential roof innovations at the 2024 International Roofing Expo (IRE), February 6-8 in Las Vegas. Visitors to booth #6207 can discover roofing solutions that offer strategies to help advance sustainability, drive innovation, enhance curb appeal, improve performance and increase education.

Advancing sustainability

New Solar PROtect™ Program keeps pace with advances in solar technology

  • As interest in energy-generating roof assemblies continues to grow, Owens Corning is unveiling the Solar PROtect™ Program. The panel-agnostic solar roofing program is designed to keep pace with rapid advances in solar technology and is compatible with a range of solar panels and mounts.

Shingle recycling momentum builds

  • Research and development efforts stemming from a shingle recycling pilot launched in December 2022 have led to an early-stage prototype shingle made with recycled content, which is on display at the booth. Owens Corning is also sharing third-party research1 that indicates homeowners are interested in ways to repurpose building materials – including shingles – and help reduce landfill waste. Owens Corning’s Director of Circular Economy Mark Leo and Director of Asphalt Innovation Laurand Lewandowski are providing an update on Owens Corning’s commitment to divert two million tons of shingles per year from landfills by 2030 and sharing progress on advances to reuse shingle waste as components in pavement and in shingles. The seminar is on Thursday, February 8, at 12:30 p.m. PT in booth #7490.

Driving innovation

PINKWRAP® weather resistant† barrier products debut

  • Owens Corning is launching the PINKWRAP® portfolio of weather resistant barrier products engineered to help defend homes against the elements. PINKWRAP® products are designed to help keep wind, rain and snow from entering homes’ wall systems while also providing UV resistant protection from sun exposure. The weather resistant barrier products work to keep liquid or vapor moisture from becoming trapped in the wall system. New offerings include a woven weather barrier and a premium non-woven air barrier that delivers enhanced protection against water in a signature pink shade. The new components help extend protection from the roof to the walls. Both weather resistant barriers are engineered to deliver wind and tear resistance along with easy handling on the jobsite.

Enhancing curb appeal

Color, cars and curb appeal

  • Like a high-performing car, a home’s roof relies on a system approach to drive performance beautifully. Mark Worman, host of the television program Graveyard Carz, has selected TruDefinition® Duration® Onyx Black for his new home’s roof. Graveyard Carz is an automotive reality show and episodes focus on restoring Mopar Muscle Cars. Visitors can meet Worman and snap a photo with an iconic Mopar car on display in the booth. Booth visitors can also check out a portfolio of designer shingle colors and design resources, including 2024 Shingle Color of the Year Williamsburg Gray.

Improving performance

Maintaining a mission to perform

  • Owens Corning remains committed to leading the industry in helping roofing contractors achieve beautiful roofs that perform in the elements. This commitment is reflected in the roofing materials, technologies and components on display at IRE. Duration® Series shingles equipped with patented SureNail® Technology feature a wide nailing zone that facilitates optimal install. TruDefinition® Duration FLEX® shingles combine Class 4 impact resistance that helps stand up to wind-driven rain, high wind and hail. Outstanding performance can be seen in a “stories from the storm” video display that shows how Owens Corning Duration® and Oakridge® shingles stood up to the conditions that Hurricane Ian inflicted on the Fort Myers, Florida region in 2022. The system of highly engineered components in the Owens Corning Total Protection Roofing System® is designed, built and tested to deliver total protection under constantly changing conditions.

Increasing education

Driving next level education

  • Owens Corning University recently added new learning resources for contractors, distributors and their teams. Educational content includes a 2.0 series of online and live training along with a new Distributor Academy that includes webinars, videos, technical bulletins and more. Also on display will be ways Owens Corning training resources and partners can help contractors roof with solar.

Remarking on the state of residential roofing in 2024, Owens Corning Roofing President Gunner Smith noted, “Innovations in the roofing space are accelerating as roofing contractors and the customers they serve look for solutions that conserve energy, utilize resources responsibly and protect homes while adding exterior curb appeal. At Owens Corning, we strive to bring the highest level of technology, performance and beauty to roofs while continuing our focus on being our contractors’ and distributors’ best partner in the business.”
