Metal Roofing is Hot in Florida and the Industry!

MCA Metal Roofing is Hot in Florida
September 17, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

By Dani Sheehan.

This year’s FRSA Expo highlighted extensive growth in the metal roofing industry.

The 2023 Florida Roofing Expo was a huge success once again this year, and metal played a leading role. In a live Coffee Conversations during the event, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Renee Ramey, executive director of Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA), and Jeff Henry, executive director of Metal Construction Association (MCA) to discuss the growing industry and how contractors can get involved.

It’s been a busy summer season for both organizations and neither show signs of slowing down. If you’re looking to expand your business, look no further! MRA and MCA have all the information you need, and the answer is metal. In both markets, the statistical data speaks for itself. Renee tells us that metal is up to 18% in the residential market, and on the commercial side, Jeff boasts a forecast of four to five percent annual growth from last year. At this year’s expo, Heidi was blown away by the amount of metal on the floor, and Jeff agreed, “it is a big factor of the show.”

Neither Jeff nor Renee was surprised by this turnout. “Metal has a great story to tell, and its attributes have been well known forever, but people are starting to become exposed to that... and we expect that rate to continue to grow exponentially,” says Jeff. They’re excited to see how this growth fuels the industry and want to help contractors expand their reach.

As Renee puts it, “We exist to promote and educate quality metal roofing to homeowners,” and MRA works very closely with MCA, which is the “technical arm of the industry.” Offering free trial memberships and an immense library of research in the field, MRA and MCA can help you grow your business by adding metal to your roofing repertoire. They’re both excited for METALCON 2023 taking place October 18-20, in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s the only global event that deals exclusively with metal design and construction and offers numerous educational opportunities with industry experts. See the incredible work being done across the industry and why metal is a smart business decision.
