Johns Manville Partners with NRCA and SkillsUSA as Gold Sponsor

This will provide high school students the opportunity to learn about the roofing industry through hands-on training and competition. 

June 19-23, 2023 at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), commercial roofing will be included for the very first time in the nation’s largest showcase of skilled trades, SkillsUSA 2023.  This year marks the 59^th annual conference.  Johns Manville is the Gold Sponsor for the event and is partnering with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) to introduce high school student to the industry through roofing hands-on training and competition.

The SkillsUSA Championships are a highlight of the conference. Thousands of students have been practicing all year to compete in 110 different trade, technical, and leadership career competitions. Students will test their skills as they work against the clock and other competitors to prove their expertise in various industries — such as roofing, precision machining, medical assisting, culinary arts and more!

Representatives from Johns Manville will be instructing and accessing students in welding thermoplastic membranes and roofing details.  The technical education will be led by Todd Nathan, Technical Services Director.  Hands on training will be conducted by Mick Schorsch, Georgia Technical Representative and Rocky Rivella, Alabama Technical Representative.
