International Roofing Expo 2016 – The RoofersCoffeeShop.com was there!

IRE-stage
February 22, 2016 at 11:47 p.m.

It was another great year at the International Roofing Expo (IRE) for contractors, distributors, manufacturers and many others including the team from RoofersCoffeeShop.com (RCS). With close to 10,000 participants, the show featured cutting edge technology, new products and great new ideas for roofers overall.

RCS started out the week with a visit to the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) training center in Winter Park, Florida. Vickie videotaped the space so we could highlight how excellent it is for training, events and meetings. FRSA is a great partner with RCS along with many associations across the country and when we are in the area, we like to pay them a visit.

The RCS booth highlighted photos of our roofers along with a projection of our website. With over 200 contractors and industry professionals stopping by the booth, we were able to launch a program very near and dear to our hearts, “Look Up to Your Roofer”. Bumper stickers for this new campaign were everywhere. It is with great pride that RCS is able to continually promote the professionalism and craftsmanship of the men and women in this great industry.

As always, our favorite part was highlighting roofers at the show and on our social media. They are who make this industry great and some of them are pretty young and very impressive. Meet Jordan Cupit, the youngest team member of Professional Roofing and Exteriors in Arvada, Colorado. He was the 2015 winner of the National Roofing Week’s Children’s Art Contest.  We were thrilled when he came by the RCS booth at the IRE and autographed a copy of his award winning cover art. We will be watching him as he grows in this industry! As noted, RCS believes in associations and we were able to participate in and promote many events and activities that were put on by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress , ROOFPAC and the newly formed National Women in Roofing (NWIR). It was an honor for the RCS team to be involved with all of these great organizations. Some of the highlights from the week included:

  • The Alliance Student competition with the University of Florida winning the contest. All of the teams did a great job estimating a re-roof for the Orange County Convention Center but the team from Florida took the prize with an outstanding presentation and excellent estimating skills.
  • ROOFPAC’s auction and reception helped raise funds for ongoing lobbying that is making a difference to every one of our roofing companies.
  • The annual NRCA Award reception was inspiring. Awards were presented in many categories but we want to highlight Straight Line Roofing and Construction. In fact, check out CNA's video about the winner of the 2016 CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award! NRCA and CNA awarded the CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award to Straight Line Roofing & Construction, Shingle Springs, Calif., for its donation of $16,330 to the Food Bank of El Dorado County by hosting its Ninth Annual Thanks & Giving Customer Appreciation Event.
  • The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress announced the winners of its 16th annual Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards:
    • Isael Casas, foreman for Tecta America Southeast LLC, Sanford, Fla.
    • Pedro Melendez, superintendent for Centimark Corp., Houston
    • Curtis Purvis, superintendent for Chamberlin Roofing and Waterproofing, Farmers Branch, Texas who in addition was announced as Professional Roofing's Best of the Best Award winner for his commitment to mentoring young men in the roofing industry.

Finally, it was with great pride that we watched our advertisers really make an impressive showing at this year’s IRE. From John Manville’s daily video updates to the amazing Polyglass hospitality reception to the informational Roof Saver and Western Colloid booths and always the great Malarkey Roofing booth and beverages, we were able to promote all of our advertisers as they showed extraordinary support of this year’s IRE show!
