El Dorado Hills Fire Station Renovated With Fluropon® Coated Roof and Wall Panels

Sherwin-Williams El Dorado Hills Fire Station
December 30, 2021 at 6:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.

The changes to the building make it more welcoming to the surrounding community.

The three core values of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department in California are integrity, service and excellence. The department states on their website that their vision is to “demonstrate continuous improvement in enhancing the services that our community trusts us to provide.” With their latest renovations to their station, the department has fortified their structure with metal roof and wall panels, and they have also created a welcoming space for the public to interact with.

Calpo, Hom and Dong Architects worked with Metal Sales Manufacturing Company to make the improvements to the station with new metal walls and a roof. The metal used was coated with Sherwin-Williams Fluropon® in the colors Champagne Metallic and Old Zinc Grey.

The Fluropon coating used is made of 70% polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). The coating has an aluminum substrate and can be used for wall panels, roofs, window trims and more. Fluropon coatings are also Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) compliant, making them a sustainable choice for coating metal.

Amongst other renovations, the architects also created an exterior space for the public, complete with a picnic table and drinking fountains for humans and dogs. The metal panels were used to create a gable style roof which matches the roofs of the houses in the area.
