DuPont™ Tedlar® Joins MCA!

DuPont joins MCA
June 11, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.

By Cass Jacoby, RCS Reporter.

Tedlar® PVF film brings excellent value to the metal market, which is why DuPont has joined the Metal Construction Association to take metal to more places than ever before.

It was only a matter of time before DuPont™, inventors of PVDF and makers of Tedlar® PVF, joined with the Metal Construction Association. After all, Tedlar® PVF film for metal protection is the highest performing solution for metal protection in demanding environments on the market today. It has over 60 years of outdoor success stories, and offers all of the lasting durability and beauty of a coated metal roof with advanced protection from weathering elements. With Tedlar® PVF film, metal can go more places than before. Now, doubling down on DuPont™ Tedlar’s commitment to making metal even better, the company is joining the Metal Construction Association.

Tedlar® PVF film is laminated to a metal coil in place of a coating system, offering superior protective and aesthetic performance over the lifetime of a roof or façade. It is extremely chemically resistant and flexible, making it no wonder why Tedlar® is often chosen for projects requiring premium protection of the metal in corrosive environments, including within 1,500 feet of the ocean.

“Tedlar® is basically working as a superior alternative to a protective coating,” explains Corynn Sheridan, the global marketing director for DuPont™ Tedlar® in a Roofing Road Trips podcast. “It’s extreme flexibility means it will not crack and expose the metal to corrosion, even when bent into panel shapes and exposed to the elements over the decades of a roofs life’s life. So it's giving that extreme level of durability and protection, and will look great for a very long time. It's performed extremely well in those long-term Florida weathering tests and shows exceptional color stability, gloss retention and adhesion stability in high UV exposure.”

Furthermore, Tedlar® is produced in the United States and in stock, making it an excellent solution for today’s metal building industry.

“We are proud to be new members of the MCA and continue bringing these market-leading products to the building and construction industry,” said DuPont™ Tedlar® VP of Sales and Marketing Matt Urfali, in a press release. “Tedlar® has over 60 years of proven performance in protecting surfaces around the world, and we look forward to working with the members and leaders of the MCA to increase the use of metal in construction.”

Together, the MCA and Tedlar® will accomplish their goals of promoting the use of metal in the building envelope and eliminating barriers to metal’s use in construction with products that can make metal’s application make sense everywhere.
