RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products earned Hungary’s “Roof of the Year 2025” award for a project combining a metal-look roof with a nonpenetrating solar mounting solution.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products has received the “Roof of the Year 2025” award from the Hungarian Roofers’ Association (ÉMSZ) for its work on the Kovács Katalin National Kayak-Canoe Academy in Sukoró, Hungary. Recognized in the synthetic roofing category, the project used RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Design and Solar systems to address two significant design challenges: creating a flexible, undulating roof with the appearance of metal and installing solar panels without perforating the waterproofing membrane.

The academy is a sports and recreation facility designed to host international kayaking and canoeing competitions, along with rowing and open-water swimming events. Located on a natural lake, the building features flowing forms inspired by water waves.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Design provided the metallic appearance while maintaining the flexibility needed for curved and sloped roof sections. The RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Solar system supported installation of the solar panels without piercing the PVC-P roofing membrane. The system also eliminated the need for additional heavy ballast, helping reduce structural loads while preserving watertightness.

Project collaboration was another important part of the installation. Design Plan and Fényjel Stúdió handled the architectural design, while West Hungária Bau and Lajtaszig carried out the work. RENOLIT ALKORPLAN supported the project from early consultations through completion with regular site visits, wind load calculations and coordinated delivery schedules. At the contractor’s request, the team also created an 800-square-meter test installation to evaluate the proposed solutions.

According to Ferenc Szabo, managing director of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN Hungary, the recognition reflects both the technical quality and aesthetic value of the systems as well as the collaboration behind the project.
