Trowbridge House 808 First Street - Built in 1827 by Issac Trowbridge, a native of Connecticut, it is the oldest two-story building in the area. The home was made of cypress using wooden-peg construction. The house remained in the Trowbridge family for more than a century and a half. It was restored in the 1990s and donated to St. Mary's Episcopal Church.Ford Roofing Service We worked on this project with DDA Construction of Franklin and the architect was Eugene Sizick out of New Orleans. We removed a corragated tin roof exposing the orignal cypress shingles,we stripped the cypresss to the orignal cypress roof deck.We removed the cypress decking to the orignal roof truss system which was randomly installed at approx 3 foot centers so DDA had to install additional truss"s.Then we installed a three quarter inch cdx plywood roof deck,we fabricated and installed all copper flashings. The roofing installed was southern pine shingles,we also installed the 6 inch copper half round gutters and downspouts. We installed a copper standing seam roof on the back porch and also copper termite shields were fabricated. An interesting fact during the demolition was the shingles were stamped by the mill that orignally cut the cypress and the owner Billy Smardon was a decendant of the mill in franklin,so she had a little piece of her family history to keep.
