The global community of building envelope innovators is preparing for one of the most influential events in the built environment. The 21st International Advanced Building Skins Conference and Expo will return to Bern, Switzerland on 3–4 November 2026, bringing together architects, façade specialists, engineers, researchers and construction leaders from across Europe and beyond.
For more than twenty years, the Advanced Building Skins Conference has been regarded as the leading international forum dedicated to high-performance, climate-responsive and intelligent building envelopes. It has become the place where new ideas emerge, where future-facing technologies are discussed and where the people redefining modern building performance come together.
This year, the Scientific Conference Committee has extended a formal invitation to Heidi Ellsworth to contribute as part of the industry’s growing dialogue around innovation in building materials, construction technology and digital integration. The Call for Papers offers an outstanding opportunity for thought leaders to share research, present case studies and introduce forward-thinking concepts that shape the future of building envelopes across Europe.
The event attracts a diverse audience including architects, façade designers and project developers exploring new materials and design methodologies. Engineering firms focused on sustainability, performance and modeling also participate, alongside research institutions developing climate-adaptive building skins. Decision-makers in procurement and project planning attend to identify solutions that meet rapidly evolving regulatory and environmental expectations.
