Industry experts break down how innovation and awareness are gaining polymeric roofing traction across the industry.

Recently, the polymeric roofing market has been growing in popularity. To talk about the momentum behind these products, Megan Ellsworth hosted Dylan Faust, Zach Stopyro and Thomas Knuckey for an episode of Roofing Road Trips®. Dylan is the technical service manager at EcoStar, Zach is the director of technical services and installation Westlake Royal Roofing Solutions, Thomas is the director of product management at Brava Roof Tile and all three of them are members of the Polymeric Exterior Products Association (PEPA).

When asked about the rise of polymeric products in the roofing industry, Zach started by sharing some background about the history of polymeric roofing products:

Years ago, when they first were released, many polymeric products were much higher priced than more mainstream products. The cost was what always drove people away from those products. And slowly that gap has closed a little more. Also, technology has gotten a lot better, building manufacturing has gotten a lot better, so polymeric is able to be made much better and much quicker, which helps close that gap.

In addition to the price of polymeric becoming much more competitive these days, there has also been a lot of work done to raise awareness of polymeric as an option. Dylan explained, “Polymeric has been around since the nineties, but a lot of people don't know about it and don’t understand how polymeric products are going to perform compared to more well-known materials, like slate, shake and concrete. So a lot of what we’re seeing as a rise in popularity right now is just a rise of awareness.”

And a lot of the rise in awareness of polymeric can be credited to the work of organizations like PEPA. Thomas explained:

PEPA’s work is three-tiered. First, it's focused on expanding the synthetic or composite market that we're all in through codes and testing standards and development. The second tier is education and workforce development; so really focused on preparing a workforce on what it takes to install and work with polymeric products. And then the third tier is fostering innovation and building community. And that’s focused on continuing to pick momentum up and really raising awareness so that this niche keeps moving into a mainstream solution.

            class=''
            style=' '  loading='lazy' />

By Emma Peterson.

Learn how the Pro Portal was designed around real-world needs and workflows.

In a new episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Megan Ellsworth spoke to Josh Nimmo from Brava Roof Tile about the creation of the Brava Pro Portal. Brava Pro Portal is a centralized system design by Brava’s team to improve the efficiency of day-to-day operations for contractors and distributors.

Josh opened the episode by sharing the backstory behind the creation of this incredible system:

The inspiration is interesting because we kind of stumbled into building it. Basically, as we started to grow, we realized that quoting for specialty roofing projects, the projects our products are ideal for, is one of the hardest things and a lot of the other software and other applications out there aren't necessarily built for some of the uniqueness to our systems and some of the requirements and specifications. So, we started to digitize, using things like Excel spreadsheets to help our customers price things out.

In the process of digitizing the quoting process, it became clear that this was just the tip of the iceberg. Josh explained, “In projects, you often end up sending papers and spreadsheets to different people and entering them into different processes. It quickly became evident that we couldn't just build a quote spreadsheet. It needed to be something that would bring your work, your people and your processes together in one place to collaborate.” With this in mind, the project goal expanded from digitalizing quoting to building a centralized portal – the Pro Portal.

With this new goal, the Brava team got to work actually building the program. Josh recalled, “We first internally got our team together. Then we went to some round tables so we could hear the voices of the customer and what they needed." The result of this feedback-centered development process was the Pro Portal; a powerful piece of software that doesn’t just elevate contractors and distributors’ operations, but responds to their need for efficiency, expertise and enablement at scale. As Josh put it, “A big thing for us is we want to meet our customers where they are and really fill gaps that are there versus just building on top of what’s already out there and adding to the noise.”

BRAVA Roof Tile, the United States’ leading manufacturer of beautifully authentic, high-performance synthetic roofing, announces expanded capabilities and continued rollout of the BRAVA Pro Portal, a platform built to help simplify how specialty roofing projects are initiated, quoted, sold, installed and managed.

Designed specifically for the complexity of premium roofing systems, the BRAVA Pro Portal combines lead management, roof measurements, guided quoting, pricing coordination, proposal generation and order visibility into one connected experience. Additional collaboration tools, warranty workflows and sales enablement capabilities are also planned as part of ongoing development alongside feedback from beta and early-adoption users.

The platform was developed to help address many of the operational gaps common across specialty roofing workflows, where contractors, distributors, manufacturers and homeowners often work across disconnected systems, spreadsheets, emails and manual processes.

The BRAVA Pro Portal is being developed as an AI-first platform that enables BRAVA to build workflow-specific tools and intelligent automation tailored to specialty roofing products and how they are sold and installed in the real world.

Key capabilities currently include and continue to expand across:

Lead pipeline and AI Pro Match workflows

Roof measurement and project intake tools

Guided quoting and product configuration

Pricing coordination and digital Pricebooks

Proposal generation and reusable templates

Order visibility and workflow tracking

Warranty and post-sale workflow support

The platform also introduces reusable templates and guided workflows designed to help contractors and distributors scale more efficiently across new projects, new roof measurements, repeatable system configurations and standardized proposal offerings.

"The vision for the BRAVA Pro Portal is much bigger than simply creating quotes faster," said Josh Nimmo, COO and project lead at BRAVA Roof Tile. "We are building a connected platform designed specifically around BRAVA products, workflows and partner needs. Helping our partners move faster, reduce friction, improve consistency and deliver a better customer experience ultimately helps support stronger business growth across the entire network."

The BRAVA Pro Portal is being developed as a long-term operational platform, with continued expansion planned across core modules, AI-assisted workflows, automation, collaboration tools and customer experience features. Future enhancements will continue focusing on solving real workflow challenges across the full project lifecycle; from lead generation and project design through ordering, installation support and warranty registration. The platform is currently expanding through active collaboration and feedback from contractors, distributors and BRAVA teams participating in early adoption and development programs.

Brave Roof Tile solutions help contractors address harsh climate conditions and evolving customer expectations.

At the 2026 Roofing Contractors Association of Washington (RCAW) PNW Regional Tradeshow, contractors gathered to explore new products, connect with regional peers and address evolving challenges across the Pacific Northwest. Among the exhibitors, Brava Roof Tile highlighted how alternative roofing materials are gaining traction as contractors look for durable, low-maintenance solutions that meet both aesthetic and performance demands.

Lauren White of The Coffee Shops™ was able to speak with Jerry Becker, outside and technical sales representative of Brava, about the company’s growing presence throughout the country. “Brava makes an aesthetic composite shake. It’s been around since about 2005,” Jerry said, naming standout clients such as Disneyland and Disney World. “It’s a very popular product on the East Coast, and the West Coast is slowly adopting it because of our environment here.”

Designed to replicate the look of traditional cedar shake, Brava’s synthetic roofing products are engineered for longevity and resilience. Jerry pointed to the performance advantages that resonate with both contractors and property owners. “It’s going to hold up a lot longer, and you’re not going to have the moss or the growth,” he explained. “It’s about doing this one time and being done.”

Sustainability is another key advantage of Brava products. Manufactured with recycled materials, Brava tiles help reduce landfill waste while extending roof life cycles. “We use about 63% recycled polymer,” Jerry explained. “That means less roof removal, less waste in our landfills and a more sustainable project overall. It’s going to keep its shape and look for as long as you really wanted to.”

Contractors at the show expressed demand for alternatives to conventional asphalt and wood shake systems. “They’re craving something different,” Jerry said. “They want a product that gives them the look of shake but without the maintenance and with better performance.”

PEPA has long been recognized for its leadership in advocacy and the advancement of vinyl siding. Through consistent work in standards development, building code engagement and industry education, the association has helped drive growth and credibility for polymeric exterior products. Over the past year, that focus has expanded in a significant way. PEPA has welcomed polymeric roofing manufacturers and distribution partners into its membership, creating a more unified voice for polymer-based solutions across the entire building envelope.

This evolution was evident throughout the meeting. From the opening welcome to the detailed committee presentations, the agenda reflected an organization that is actively growing and adapting to meet new opportunities. Discussions centered on advocacy efforts, ongoing research and the importance of clear, consistent communication to both the industry and consumers. With increasing regulatory pressures and a rapidly evolving marketplace, this level of collaboration is more critical than ever.

Key to this expansion is the involvement of leading polymeric roofing manufacturers including Brava Roof, DaVinci Roofscapes and EcoStar. These companies are helping to bring high-performance synthetic roofing products into the mainstream, offering durability, sustainability and design versatility that align with today’s construction demands. Their participation within PEPA signals the growing importance of polymer-based solutions not just for siding but across the entire roofing sector.

RoofersCoffeeShop’s participation also underscored that shift toward broader engagement. As a new partner with PEPA, the focus is on delivering timely, relevant information about these important building products to contractors, manufacturers and distributors. During the meeting, the RoofersCoffeeShop team presented on innovation and the power of online communities in today’s digital landscape. The conversation highlighted how industry is changing, especially as AI-driven search continues to reshape how information is found and trusted.

I personally had the opportunity to speak about the growing importance of long format content, directories and multimedia in supporting visibility and credibility. Today’s search engines are no longer just indexing keywords, they are interpreting context, authority and engagement. For manufacturers and associations alike, that means investing in deeper, more educational content that answers questions, demonstrates expertise and builds trust over time. Directories that centralize company information and, combined with videos, podcasts and articles, are becoming essential tools for connecting with both professionals and consumers.

The PEPA marketing committee also shared updates on their ongoing initiatives, outlining strategies to better communicate the value of polymeric products. Their work reflects a strong understanding of the need to align messaging across channels while supporting members with tools and resources that elevate the entire category. From digital outreach to educational materials, the committee’s efforts are helping to position polymeric solutions as high-performance, sustainable options for modern construction.

What stood out most throughout the meeting was the spirit of collaboration. The full agenda demonstrated how much work is happening behind the scenes, from technical discussions to marketing alignment, all with the goal of advancing the industry. This kind of coordinated effort is essential for effective advocacy, meaningful research and clear communication. It ensures that polymeric products are not only represented but understood in the context of performance, durability and long-term value.

For RoofersCoffeeShop, being part of this first PEPA meeting was both an honor and an opportunity. As the association continues to expand into roofing, the partnership will play an important role in sharing knowledge and supporting industry growth. By bringing together voices from across siding and roofing, PEPA is helping to create a stronger, more connected future for polymeric building products.

This educational session in Salt Lake City focuses on protecting people, property and roofing professionals in high snow regions.

RoofersCoffeeShop® and MetalCoffeeShop® recently attended a powerful and eye-opening snow retention training hosted by TRA Snow and Sun at the AGC of Utah Training Center in Salt Lake City. Roofing contractors from across Utah and the western United States gathered to better understand one of the most dangerous and often underestimated risks in roofing, the weight and movement of snow.

The reality is simple and sobering. Snow is heavy. When it releases from a roof, it does not gently slide away, it can avalanche with devastating force. The training shared a striking example showing how quickly that weight adds up. In a 100 pound per square foot snow load scenario, just a small section of snow coming off a roof can weigh thousands of pounds. When that mass hits a person, the results can be catastrophic and often fatal.

But the danger does not stop with human safety. Uncontrolled snow movement can rip gutters from the structure, tear off rooftop accessories, crush landscaping, destroy outdoor furniture and cause significant structural damage. For building owners, this means unexpected costs and liability. For contractors, it introduces a serious level of risk that cannot be ignored.

Leading the training were Ben Anderson and Mindy Dahlquist, along with TRA teammates including Terry Anderson, founder and CEO, who shared the company’s history and answered questions. Their passion for engineered snow retention systems was evident throughout the day. They emphasized that snow retention is not an accessory, it is a critical part of a complete roofing system in any region that experiences significant snowfall.

The training also featured Brava Roof Tile, who demonstrated how snow retention systems integrate with their premium roofing products. Their participation highlighted the importance of designing snow retention solutions that work seamlessly with different roofing materials, ensuring both performance and aesthetics. Seeing how snow retention interacts with synthetic roofing systems reinforced the need for a customized, engineered approach for every roof type.

Also in attendance were leaders from key industry associations, including the Utah Roofing Contractors Association (URCA) and the Western States Roofing Contractors Association (WSRCA), represented by Kris Hitesman of Capitol Roofing Service. Their presence reinforced the importance of collaboration across the industry to promote best practices, safety and ongoing education.

A key part of the training focused on specific product applications, including the proper use and installation of snow brackets and snow fences. Attendees learned when each system is appropriate, how they perform under load and how to correctly install them to maximize effectiveness. The TRA team also demonstrated the use of their specialized clamp systems for installing snow fences without compromising roof integrity. Another major takeaway was TRA’s deep commitment to testing. The team shared how they rigorously test their systems to ensure the highest levels of performance in real-world conditions. Their approach goes beyond standard requirements, with a focus on making sure every product meets and exceeds building codes and delivers reliable, engineered protection. This dedication to testing reinforces confidence for contractors, architects and building owners alike.

The training focused on three key areas, proper engineering, correct installation and effective communication with building owners. Contractors learned that every roof in a high snow area should be evaluated for snow retention and that systems must be designed based on load calculations, roof design and site conditions. Guesswork is not acceptable when lives and property are at stake. Equally important was the discussion around liability. Contractors were reminded that when snow avalanches off a roof, building owners often pursue legal action against everyone involved in the project. This includes manufacturers, designers and especially the installing contractor. One of the strongest takeaways was the need to include snow retention in every proposal and contract. If an owner chooses not to include it, contractors should require a formal sign-off acknowledging the risk. This step is critical for protecting roofing professionals from future claims. Beyond risk mitigation, the training also highlighted the opportunity for contractors to build stronger relationships with their customers. By educating owners on the importance of snow retention, contractors position themselves as trusted advisors, not just installers. This creates ongoing sales opportunities and reinforces the value of quality roofing systems that perform in real-world conditions.

Adding a bit of fun to the day, the TRA team also handed out custom trucker hats with unique branded badges, a small but memorable touch that reflected their strong culture and connection to the contractor community. Demonstrating a strong commitment to education and safety for the entire industry, the training was live streamed through TRA’s YouTube channel and will be available on demand through both MetalCoffeeShop and RoofersCoffeeShop YouTube channels as well as within TRA’s directories. This extended access ensures that contractors across the country can benefit from the training, reinforcing TRA’s dedication to making critical safety education widely available. For contractors working in snow-prone regions, the message is clear. Snow retention is not optional. It is essential. By understanding the risks, specifying engineered systems and educating customers, roofing professionals can protect their businesses while delivering roofs that truly perform.

Industry leaders say resilient materials are becoming essential as severe weather drives insurance changes.

As extreme weather events increase in both frequency and severity across the United States, the roofing industry is being pushed to adapt at a faster pace. Insurance carriers, regulators and contractors are reassessing how roofing systems are evaluated, installed and insured, placing greater emphasis on durability, resilience and long-term performance. That shift is being driven by a clear pattern. Severe weather is no longer isolated to specific regions or seasons. Instead, it is becoming more widespread and more destructive, impacting communities nationwide. In an episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Brenda Perkins of Brava Roof Tile explained how these changes are reshaping expectations across both the insurance and construction sectors.

Brenda shared her insights, “We've got to be able to have more resilient communities. There is a need for really good, high-quality, resilient products: roofing products, home products.” As a result, insurers are adjusting how they assess and manage risk. Brenda noted that carriers are placing increasing importance on roofing systems that can withstand both impact and high winds. Standardized testing, including UL 2218, plays a critical role in this process by measuring how well materials perform under stress. These ratings are no longer abstract benchmarks; they directly influence policy structures, deductible requirements and, in some cases, whether coverage remains available in high-risk markets.

This evolving insurance landscape is also influencing decision-making at the contractor and homeowner level. Instead of replacing damaged roofs with comparable materials, many property owners are opting for higher-performing systems designed to reduce future risk. The reasoning is practical: repeated claims can lead to rising premiums or loss of coverage altogether. “It's not a matter of if, but when,” Brenda said. “You're going to have a potential of if you file too many claims, you're not going to be able to keep your coverage.”

In response, contractors are reframing how they present roofing options. Conversations are shifting beyond upfront cost to include long-term value, potential insurance savings and overall risk reduction. Financing options and incentives are further supporting this transition, making resilient roofing systems more accessible to a broader range of homeowners.

Overall, these changes point to a broader industry realignment. The intersection of weather, insurance and construction is setting a new baseline for performance, where stronger, more resilient roofing systems are no longer optional upgrades, but a necessary response to an increasingly volatile environment.

Learn how Brava Roof Tile connects remote installation oversight with Q1 2026 Spanish tile incentives to protect quality, driving contractor growth.

Installation quality is not defined at final inspection. It is defined in the moments when underlayments are fastened, flashings are set and critical transitions are sealed. For contractors installing Spanish Barrel Tile, those details directly affect performance, warranty protection and long-term reputation. Brava Roof Tile is positioning its Technical Services Integrations program as a way to protect that workmanship in real time while also supporting business growth tied to Spanish tile projects.

The integration program links the jobsite to Brava Technical Services from start to finish. Using the CompanyCam platform, crews document each phase of the installation through structured photo checklists, from pre-tear-off or dry-in through final inspection. Brava’s support team reviews those images in real time and provides technical guidance while work is still in progress. Instead of identifying problems after completion, the program verifies installation methods as they happen. The objective is to reduce errors before they escalate, protect warranty compliance and reinforce best practices on every Spanish tile project.

Participation begins with preparation. All crew members must complete Level 1 Installation Training before registering a project. Contractors must then confirm a start date within 45 days of registration, so Brava can coordinate support. Once connected, a Field Services Representative collaborates remotely while crews follow standardized checklists throughout the job. Upon completion, contractors may receive Level 2 Certification or confirmation of a Brava-supported installation.

That certification pathway connects directly to Brava’s Q1 2026 Spanish tile incentives. Contractors can earn a 10% rebate on Spanish Barrel Tile installed and registered through Brava’s warranty system during the first quarter. Rebates are based on completed warranty registrations and are paid 45 days after the quarter closes. Additionally, contractors who advance to Spanish Level II by completing Level II training requirements can earn a $1,000 marketing incentive to use toward Brava-approved marketing materials.

The offer is valid for Q1 2026 only and is subject to change or discontinuation at Brava’s discretion. Contractors interested in confirming eligibility or tracking progress are encouraged to contact their local Brava representative.

In practice, Brava is aligning technical oversight with financial incentives. Stronger installation processes support stronger margins, and disciplined execution in the field can translate into measurable growth in the market.

Learn how the event delivered strong networking, education and business opportunities for roofing professionals.

The Colorado Roofing Association (CRA) show reinforced its position as a cornerstone regional event, bringing together contractors, manufacturers and industry organizations for one of its largest gatherings to date. This year’s show was defined by record attendance, an expanded trade floor and a steady pace of meaningful connections that translated into real business opportunities.

That growth was immediately evident to attendees. The Coffee Shops™ (TCS) Multimedia Producer Zane Deluccie described the event as the biggest CRA show yet, emphasizing the value of reconnecting with industry partners such as TRA Snow & Sun and National Women in Roofing (NWIR). Even outdoor exhibits drew attention, with Rocket Equipment’s Trash Rocket standing out despite temperatures dropping below 40 degrees. Throughout the event, Zane noted, “We met plenty of great contractors who were interested in what we stood to offer. Our floor team talked to a number of existing clients and our booth wrangled a series of leads.”

The scale of the show also shaped the experience on the floor. TCS Podcast Producer Adam Cabrera said, “It turned out to be much larger than I expected going in. There were a ton of exhibitors and the show had great turn out.” With a large number of exhibitors spread across multiple warehouse spaces the layout created continuous foot traffic, giving the team opportunities to introduce TCS to new audiences while building interest among contractors who were previously unfamiliar with the platform.

For TCS Multimedia Manager Megan Ellsworth, the event’s momentum was most visible in both participation and energy. “It was the biggest year attendance wise that I've been to with about 2000 people in attendance,” as Megan described an environment that remained active from start to finish where she conducted interviews with companies including FlashCo, Brava Roof Tile, TRA Snow & Sun, Owens Corning® and GAF, along with organizations such as Duro-Last® and Latinos En Roofing. Her conversation with Amparo from Latinos En Roofing, attending for the first time, highlighted the growing influence of the Colorado market.

Megan also supported the NWIR Denver/Northern Colorado chapter booth, which saw steady traffic and new member signups throughout the event. Alongside well-attended educational sessions and upcoming programming, including a March 18 Lunch and Learn, the show reflected continued growth and opportunity across the Colorado roofing industry.
