A fire-resistant (FR) version of Flintlastic® SA Cap CoolStar® Ultra is also available for assemblies requiring high solar reflectivity in combination with a Class A fire rating and/or Class IV impact resistance.

CertainTeed previously launched Flintlastic® GTA CoolStar® Ultra and Flintlastic® GTA-FR CoolStar® Ultra, offering contractors and building owners torch-down solutions that meet Los Angeles’ Title 31 Green Building Standards Code (T31). With this latest expansion, CertainTeed now extends CoolStar® Ultra technology to customers who prefer self-adhered roofing systems, delivering greater installation flexibility while maintaining high solar reflectivity and long-term performance. These products are listed with the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC Product ID: 0668-0161 and 0668-0162).

“As demand grows for safer, faster-installed cool roofing solutions, we’re continuing to expand where CoolStar® Ultra can be used,” said Liang Gwee, product manager, commercial roofing at CertainTeed. “By bringing CoolStar® Ultra technology to our self-adhered systems, we’re delivering a high-reflectivity, Title 31 compliant solution that installs faster, eliminates flames and fumes and provides the long-term durability and multi-ply protection customers rely on.”

S.A.F.E. Roofing with Flintlastic® SA

Flintlastic® SA systems are engineered with the S.A.F.E. roofing approach - Speed, affordability, fume & flame free and easy to learn - helping contractors complete projects more efficiently without sacrificing performance.

Speed: CertainTeed commissioned an independent third-party comparison of labor efficiencies across multiple popular low-slope roofing systems, including multi-layer modified bitumen and single-ply. Results showed that a two- or three-ply Flintlastic® SA system installed faster than traditional modified bitumen application methods and single-ply systems. Contractors can view the side-by-side time trial for additional insights.

Affordability: While material costs for multi-ply modified bitumen systems may exceed single-ply, labor efficiencies help offset those differences. When labor savings are factored in, installed costs are comparable, while delivering the superior protection of a multi-ply roof system.

Fume & flame free: Flintlastic® SA eliminates the need for kettles or torches. Installation requires only a weighted roller to achieve a bond comparable to traditional modified bitumen methods.

Easy to learn: CertainTeed Credentialed Contractors report faster skill acquisition with Flintlastic® SA self-adhered installation compared to other roofing application methods.

Nearly 500 attendees engaged in education, networking and business growth at a regional workshop in Miami.

At LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida, nearly 500 contractors convened for the CertainTeed Business Builders Workshop, representing a growing industry focus on education, collaboration and long-term business development. Bringing together contractors, manufacturers and vendor partners, the event offered a concentrated, one-day opportunity to explore practical strategies for navigating an increasingly complex roofing landscape.

Framed by a clear view of the playing field, the RoofersCoffeeShop® sound stage hosted live interviews, conversations and educational sessions throughout the day. Around it, attendees moved between classrooms and vendor areas, engaging with topics that reflected both immediate challenges and emerging trends. Sessions covered low-slope applications, insurance processes, solar integration and broader operational strategies.

The sound stage also became a focal point for emerging business strategies, particularly in how contractors communicate with their audiences. A podcasting class hosted by the RoofersCoffeeShop® team drew standing-room-only attendance, signaling strong interest in using digital content to support growth and visibility. Attendees actively participated, submitting business cards for the opportunity to be selected as live podcast guests during the event, an approach that reinforced both engagement and real-time learning. The level of interest reflected a broader shift within the industry, where contractors are looking beyond technical execution to develop stronger branding, storytelling and customer connection.

The ability to step away from daily operations and refocus on learning created space not only for new information, but for reflection on existing practices. As Brian Drominer from APC Roofing observed, “The classes are very informative, lots of information, a lot of takeaways. It’s very beneficial for the roofing industry for sure.”

Equally important was the presence of vendor partners, whose participation extended the learning environment beyond the classroom. Contractors were able to engage directly with suppliers, compare solutions and evaluate tools that could be implemented immediately in the field or office.

At the same time, the workshop functioned as a gathering place for the roofing community. Conversations between sessions revealed a shared interest in improving performance, adapting to regional conditions and strengthening business operations. The regional format of the event played a critical role in that dynamic, enabling companies to bring multiple team members and ensuring that knowledge gained at the event could be carried back and applied across entire organizations.

As a whole, the workshop reflected a clear shift in the industry, one that prioritizes continuous learning, stronger partnerships and practical, experience-driven growth.

Learn how integrated roofing, siding and solar solutions help contractors deliver durability, energy efficiency and design flexibility.

At the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Orlando, Florida, resilience emerged as a defining theme across the show floor. As contractors respond to more severe weather, rising homeowner expectations and mounting insurance challenges, the conversation is shifting from individual products to whole-system performance. That broader approach was on display at the CertainTeed booth, where the company highlighted how roofing, siding and solar products can work together to strengthen the entire home.

Samantha Gillenwater, part of the product management team for CertainTeed Roofing, said durability begins with impact resistance. “When we talk about resiliency, one of the biggest things we talk about is impact resistance,” Samantha said. She pointed to the NorthGate ClimateFlex shingle, which uses polymer-modified asphalt to improve flexibility and help reduce damage from hail.

That focus speaks directly to conditions many homeowners now face. With deductibles rising and claims becoming more difficult to navigate, long-term roof performance has become a more urgent concern. Samantha said the goal is to “get it right the first time,” giving contractors a stronger way to position roofing systems built to withstand repeated weather exposure without constant replacement.

At the same time, performance expectations now extend beyond impact resistance alone. Energy efficiency and code compliance are also shaping product development, particularly in regions with stricter standards. CertainTeed’s Landmark Solaris shingles, including newly introduced colors, are designed to meet updated solar reflectance requirements in markets where those values are becoming more important. The company has also expanded its wind warranty offering, with coverage up to 160 miles per hour and unlimited coverage available when the full roofing system is installed.

That systems-driven strategy continues beyond the roofline. Kyle Miller of CertainTeed’s siding products group said contractors are increasingly looking for materials that combine performance with visual variety. “Customers are looking to provide different textures, different colors, and different mixed materials on their builds,” Kyle said. Products such as panelized stone veneer systems and polymer siding are intended to simplify installation while also improving durability and curb appeal.

Taken together, the product lineup reflects a larger shift in the market. For contractors, resilience is no longer about solving one problem at a time. It is increasingly about offering coordinated solutions that protect the full structure while helping homeowners balance durability, efficiency and design.

            style=' '  loading='lazy' />

Charleston expansion pairs Golden Door-winning sales leadership with Capital City Roofing’s growth platform, certifications and operating systems.

Capital City Roofing today announced its expansion into the Charleston, South Carolina market through the company’s Capital City Roofing Licensing Platform, launching a new market presence in partnership with Blake Grissom of Revive Roofing & Exteriors in Charleston, South Carolina. Capital City Roofing already identifies Charleston as part of its South Carolina service footprint and positions the market around coastal roofing systems built for wind exposure, storm resilience and insurance-driven performance requirements.

The Charleston expansion is designed to combine strong local market leadership with a proven growth platform built on brand infrastructure, process discipline, sales enablement, advanced technology and manufacturer-certified roofing excellence. Capital City Roofing describes its broader operating model as one built on disciplined execution, automation and scalable service systems, while BuilderLync positions itself as an all-in-one contractor operating system built to help contractors streamline sales, quoting, marketing, project flow and operations.

“Expanding into Charleston is a major milestone for Capital City Roofing and for the long-term vision of our Licensing Platform,” said Brad Strawbridge, founder and ceo of Capital City Roofing. “Blake brings elite, Golden Door-caliber sales leadership and proven market execution. I bring the sales architecture, process development, and operating systems that allow great contractors to scale with consistency. Together, we are building a Charleston operation designed for disciplined growth, exceptional customer experience and long-term market leadership.”

Grissom brings substantial sales credibility and local market experience to the Charleston launch. He is identified publicly as a co-founder and chief sales officer at BuilderLync, and recent podcast listings describe him as a multi-year Golden Door Award winner and founder of Revive Roofing & Exteriors, with reported annual sales performance exceeding $7 million.

“This partnership brings together local market knowledge, elite sales performance and a platform that is built to scale,” said Blake Grissom. “Charleston is a high-opportunity market, and we are entering it with the leadership, systems and execution needed to build something substantial.” “This strategic collaboration is ultimately meant to give Revives clients the best all around service and best in class customer experience.” said Grissom.

Capital City Roofing’s Charleston market positioning emphasizes wind-rated roofing systems, impact-resistant shingles, metal roofing and commercial roofing systems tailored to the demands of the Lowcountry climate.

CertainTeed used IRE 2026 to showcase products, training and support designed to help contractors differentiate their businesses.

At the 2026 International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Las Vegas, CertainTeed used its presence to emphasize a central message for contractors: standing out in today’s market requires more than just a strong product line. Across multiple live interviews from the show floor and The Coffee Shops™ sound stage, company leaders described the brand’s broader strategy built around product performance, contractor education and business support.

That focus was evident throughout the booth, where CertainTeed highlighted both commercial and residential offerings aimed at helping contractors respond to shifting code requirements, weather demands and customer expectations. On the commercial side, District Sales Manager John Schultz pointed to CoolStar Ultra as one example of that approach. Designed around California energy code requirements, the low-slope product line offers high reflectivity along with fire-rated options. Emphasizing the performance benefits tied to evolving codes, John explained, “Title 31, Title 24, it says, ‘Hey, we’re requiring it. It’s by code to cool down the roof, to cool down the building, to make your energy costs cheaper.’” He also noted that contractors working on projects with both steep- and low-slope sections can use color-matched systems to create a more unified appearance while maintaining one warranty.

On the residential side, Go-to-Market Manager Samantha Gillenwater highlighted three new Landmark Solaris colors developed with California compliance in mind. The products use solar-reflective granules to help keep roofs cooler, giving contractors another way to bring energy efficiency into conversations with homeowners without sacrificing curb appeal. Demonstrating both performance and aesthetics, Samantha said, “The solar reflective granules in them actually reflect the sun. So, they keep your roof a little bit cooler.”

Still, the company’s message extended beyond individual products. Senior Product Manager James White said CertainTeed’s focus is on “resilience both at the component level and the system level,” pointing to the company’s six-part Integrity Roof System and newly launched wind warranty. In a separate interview, James also expressed the broader market demand driving those efforts, saying, “I think if I was to summarize what contractors are looking for, it’s really differentiation.”

That same focus shaped the company’s contractor support strategy. Joe Thompson, senior manager of exterior products training, said the revamped Contractors Edge program remains rooted in education across residential roofing, commercial roofing, siding and solar. Joe shared, “Basically what we look at as we educate the individuals so the company can grow and be successful.”

CertainTeed turns heads with its solar-ready shingles, FORTIFIED-compliant systems and a booth design that kept the crowd buzzing.

CertainTeed brought more than just sharp displays and soft carpet to booth 225 at the Western Roofing Expo 2025; it brought solutions designed for where the roofing industry is headed. “This show’s been great,” said Brian Stanford on the RoofersCoffeeShop® sound stage. “We’ve had a lot of people coming through the booth.”

Contractors attending the show zeroed in on innovation, showing marked interest in new product launches and advanced systems. At the top of that list: solar and cool roofing. CertainTeed Solaris shingles, engineered to reflect solar heat, drew particular interest from West Coast professionals looking to reduce heat gain in sunny climates like Las Vegas.

The company also emphasized its collaboration with the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC), ensuring its products meet stringent reflectivity standards. But solar and energy efficiency weren’t the only talking points. CertainTeed is also pushing forward with its FORTIFIED-compliant products, designed to give homeowners and contractors a stronger edge against extreme weather. The company recently added roof tape and a new starter product to the system.

To support contractors in the field, CertainTeed offers more than just materials. “One of the things we really emphasize is our marketing materials and our contractor programs,” Brian said. “So, they have all that information, and they are able to talk to the homeowners.” He added that having literature and samples helps contractors show they are knowledgeable and capable of delivering a roof that makes a homeowner the talk of the neighborhood.

When contractors face tough questions, CertainTeed provides direct access to its in-house experts for support. “We have a great sales team who is super knowledgeable across the country,” Brian said. “Whether it's the territory manager, our folks in R&D who can answer some of those very scientific type questions, or even our contractor team that goes out and helps with installs.” He emphasized the company’s longevity and dependability, saying, “CertainTeed has been around for over 120 years. We’re reliable. We've been around. We're going to be here and that's why we stand behind our products.”

The National Women in Roofing’s Central Oregon Council’s first reroof event gifted a local veteran with a free new roof.

For their first reroof event, The National Women in Roofing’s Central Oregon Council gave a local veteran a new roof in Redmond, Oregon.

The event, titled “Raise the Roof for a Hero,” gathered more than a dozen businesses that donated their time, materials and labor to support veteran Larry Moyer.

“The National Women in Roofing is a giving group,” Larry told KTVZ News. “They’re a wonderful bunch of people from all different businesses. It’s really something.”

The NWIR is a volunteer-based organization that supports and advances the careers of women roofing professionals. Its Central Oregon chapter launched early 2025, and this reroof showcased its core value of impact: seeking to make a difference and contributing positively to the lives of others.

“We are able to do something really special just by coming together and volunteering whatever it is that our strength is, and this is the result,” Amy Cashman, NWIR social media manager, stated.

Another NWIR core value is connection — building and maintaining meaningful relationships — and the event brought to the forefront the power of bringing many different people and companies coming together for a shared cause.

“CertainTeed and I are more than happy to support Oregon Band of Brothers, NWIR and, of course, the veteran we have here today,” said Jack McDonnell, territory manager of CertainTeed. “My grandfather is a veteran. He was a Marine in Vietnam, so that motivates me to a significant extent.”

Other sponsors of the NWIR Central Oregon chapter and the Raise the Roof event included SRS Distribution, GAF, RESISTO by SOPREMA and RoofersCoffeeShop®.

For Larry, this experience served as an affirmation and a reminder about how to live. “They’re trying to give back to the community, and that’s what I do a lot,” Larry stated, emphasizing the duty we all have to one another. “It’s an important thing for all of us — I don’t care who you are or where you’re from. Take care of each other.”
