The 2026 Owens Corning Platinum Conference in San Antonio, Texas, celebrated the achievements of Platinum Contractors and their teams.

Owens Corning paid tribute to the achievements of Platinum Preferred Contractors across North America during the annual Platinum Conference, March 9-11, in San Antonio. Top Performer and Pinnacle Awards were presented at a Platinum Awards dinner honoring contractors’ outstanding business growth, as well as safety culture, sustainability initiatives, community involvement and innovation-driven leadership.

Owens Corning Roofing President Nico Del Monaco, Jessica Tinney, director of downstream market growth, and Tracey Rowe, sales director, content strategy, presented recipients with their awards. Attending his first Platinum Conference since being named president in June 2025, Del Monaco affirmed Owens Corning’s commitment to contractors. “The contractor remains the heartbeat of our strategy,” he stated, noting the company’s ongoing commitment to help Owens Corning Roofing Contractors grow their businesses.

The Third Estimate’s BuildHERS Scholarship empowers young folks, like The Coffee Shops’ own Hannah Ford, to build their careers. 

Last year The Third Estimate, a roofing company based in Northeast Ohio, introduced their BuildHERS Scholarship. The goal of this scholarship is to “empower young women to pursue careers in it for the construction industry to grow.” Open to students around the nation that are “in good academic standing at an accredited high school, trade school or college,” there were two scholarships given out in 2024 and they were able to raise an additional $1,000 to offer three scholarships this year.  

Here at The Coffee Shops, we are not only thrilled to see how The Third Estimate is supporting the future of roofing, but we are also incredibly proud to share that our R-Club intern, Hannah Ford, is one of the recipients of the scholarship this year! To learn more about the scholarship and Hannah’s future goals in the roofing industry, we sat down for a quick interview with her. Hannah’s first step on the path towards this scholarship was seeing a post about it on RoofersCoffeeShop.com. She explained, “I actually saw it on the RoofersCoffeeShop scholarship webpage. And so I applied for it.” 

For her application, Hannah had to submit her proof of enrollment, answer some questions, send in a letter of recommendation (which she got from Coffee Shops Marketing Manager Alex Tolle) and submit a personal statement about her career goals in roofing. Hannah shared a bit about what she wrote, saying, “I have found that the roofing industry embodies the spirit of community. Every day, roofing professionals work to ensure that families and communities are protected from the elements... Throughout my life, I have found myself in male-dominated fields from participating in high school debate to studying business in college. And my goal has been to make a meaningful impact and drive positive change for others like I see roofers doing. I want to be one of the women who leads the next generation of people and I can see a future for that in this industry.”  

And the next thing she knew, Hannah was getting a call about receiving the scholarship! From there, The Third Estimate usually connects their awardees with their team in Ohio for a facility tour in person. However, for Hannah who is based on the other side of the country, things went a bit differently. She explained, “I was actually the only person who isn't from Ohio who got the scholarship. They often give it to people in Ohio because that’s where they’re located, but it’s not an eligibility requirement. Since I couldn’t go in person, I met with the CEO (Tara Colopy) online and we just talked for an hour.” Over the course of that hour, Hannah got to talk to Tara about her goals (both school-wise and career-wise) and get what she called invaluable advice from a woman who has walked the path before her.

Every month we highlight one of the amazing contractors who is a part of our R-Club program as our Roofer of the Month, and for August that's The Third Estimate in Solon, Ohio! To learn more about how this company takes roofing and customer care to the next level, Alex Tolle sat down with their CEO, Tara Colopy for a quick podcast.  

The Third Estimate was founded back in 1996 by Tara’s husband and she took over as CEO about four years ago. The company specializes in roofing, but also provides siding, windows, gutters and other home renovation services to their customers. This expansion of services has led to an increase in growth and recognition for the company, as Tara put it, “We really started focusing heavy on customer service and building our brand in these last four years. And it's really sprung our platform forward. We're a brand that's now recognized not only locally but throughout the state of Ohio and now on a national level.” 

As they have grown, Tara has been dedicated to making sure The Third Estimate doesn’t lose track of what has built their success – the people. When it comes to the people on the internal team, Tara spoke a bit about celebrating and uplifting them, sharing, “We have a lot of female leadership, about 90% of our leadership. And we really try to celebrate that. Personally, I try to lift these women up who aren't used to running businesses in a man's world. And I can't tell you the depth of the strength I get to see every day in my staff. It’s amazing.” 

As for the people on the other side, their customers, The Third Estimate lives and breathes by the mission of treating customers as the first priority. Tara elaborated, “It's about anticipating needs, not just delivering what they ask for. I preach about being proactive with problem solving and being clear in your communication. If you're having verbal communication, follow up in writing with that customer, build that relationship because that’s what builds loyalty with our customers and has helped us grow.”

Think Third Patriot Project honors U.S. military members and veterans.

On Spring of 2025, active-duty U.S. Army Specialist (Spc) Corey Locker will receive a brand-new roof from The Third Estimate, as part of the Think Third Patriot Project. This initiative is dedicated to giving back to military members and veterans who serve our country, and they selected Corey Locker as one of this year's recipients.

The Think Third Patriot Project by The Third Estimate, is an initiative created to honor military members and veterans, as well as the families who support them. Since its inception in 2023, the project has provided new roofs for two military families, making a lasting impact on those who serve.

In addition to getting a brand-new and fitted roof, the veteran will also receive new siding, windows and a gutter system — all for no cost. The Third Estimate is aligning themselves with NEOPAT's unwavering dedication to assisting and serving our community's military personnel and their loved ones, aiming to usher in the arrival of Spring 2023 by expressing their gratitude and appreciation for those who make the greatest sacrifices. NEOPAT is a non-profit that is “dedicated to promoting patriotism and remembering those we have lost fighting for our freedoms. They have made the promise to do whatever it takes to support and serve our local military members and families and to remember those who have gone before us.”
