Learn how jobsite debris handling tools help roofing contractors improve efficiency and customer experience.

For roofing contractors, cleanup is not a final step. It is a defining part of the job, shaping how homeowners perceive the work, how crews perform under pressure and whether a project leads to future referrals. That reality informed the approach of Heath Hicks, co-founder of The Catch-All, whose jobsite protection solutions were developed from firsthand experience in roofing sales and company ownership. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heath connected cleanup performance directly to long-term business growth. He shared, “It's about keeping customers happy and getting the next referral to the next job.”

From that perspective, cleanup is not simply about removing debris. It is about controlling the entire process, from tear-off to disposal, in a way that preserves the property and the customer relationship. That focus led to the development of Load Runner, a debris-handling system designed to address a persistent gap in jobsite workflows.

Even when contractors manage debris effectively at the roofline, problems often reappear during transport. Material that is contained at the point of tear-off can spill as it is moved across the property or lifted into a trailer, creating additional cleanup and risk. Heath stated, “And so I was like, what if we could lift that trash in there somehow?”

Load Runner responds to that challenge with a lift-and-dump system built around a specialized wheelbarrow. Crews roll the loaded unit into position, activate the lift and allow the system to raise and empty the contents into a dumpster or trailer. By eliminating repeated manual handling, the process reduces loose debris, minimizes overhead lifting and improves consistency across the jobsite.

The system is designed to adapt to varied conditions. It is height adjustable and can attach to dumpsters, dump trailers, truck beds or parapet walls. It is powered by two rechargeable drill batteries, allowing crews to integrate it into existing workflows without additional infrastructure.

In practice, the impact is cumulative. Cleaner properties reduce post-job callbacks, streamlined handling improves labor efficiency and a more controlled process reinforces the professionalism homeowners expect.

A cleaner, more controlled jobsite can drive referrals, reduce risk and strengthen long-term profitability.

In competitive roofing markets, access to higher-end neighborhoods is rarely secured through price alone. More often, it is earned through visibility when a single project reshapes how a contractor is perceived. That shift does not begin with a pitch or proposal. It begins at the jobsite, where performance is on display from the first tear-off to final cleanup. In referral-driven communities, that visibility carries weight. Homeowners are not just evaluating the finished system; they are observing how the work unfolds.

A jobsite that remains clean, organized and controlled communicates discipline and professionalism in real time, establishing credibility before any direct interaction takes place. In that environment, presentation becomes more than aesthetics; it becomes a signal of how the contractor operates. That shift in expectations is driving increased adoption of jobsite protection systems such as those offered by The Catch-All.

While these systems are designed to protect landscaping, exterior features and surrounding property, their impact extends into how the work is perceived. Contained debris, defined work zones and consistent cleanup practices reduce common friction points that often lead to callbacks, while reinforcing a reputation for control and precision.

At the same time, the jobsite itself is evolving into a marketing asset. Branded banners and QR code signage turn an active project into a point of engagement, giving nearby homeowners a direct path to connect. In neighborhoods where hiring decisions are shaped by proximity and peer influence, that exposure can translate into qualified leads without additional outreach.

The operational advantages further reinforce that value. Cleaner tear-offs and streamlined cleanup processes allow crews to sustain momentum across jobs, improving consistency while reducing fatigue. With fewer missed nails and less residual debris, contractors can limit post-project issues that erode margins and disrupt workflow.

As competition intensifies, the condition of an active jobsite is taking on a more strategic role. It is no longer just where the work happens; it is where reputation is built, observed and shared. When managed with intention, a single project can extend beyond completion, creating sustained visibility and opening the door to continued work in the communities that contractors are aiming to reach.

Learn how new roofing tools improve efficiency, reduce jobsite risks and streamline cleanup for contractors.

At the 2026 International Roofing Expo (IRE), contractors gathered to explore solutions that address one of the industry’s most persistent challenges; balancing efficiency with jobsite safety and cleanliness. During a live interview on the The Coffee Shops™ sound stage sponsored by SRS Distribution, Karen Edwards spoke with Heath Hicks of The Catch-All about a new lineup of tools shaped by firsthand roofing experience.

Heath emphasized that each product stems from real jobsite frustrations rather than theoretical design. “My partner Eric and I are really just trying to solve the problems that we face in roofing on a daily basis,” Heath said. That practical focus was evident across the company’s latest innovations.

One of the most notable developments is a self-leveling roof bucket designed to stabilize tools and materials on sloped surfaces. By adhering securely to the roof, the bucket helps prevent equipment from sliding, reducing interruptions and allowing crews to work more efficiently without constantly repositioning their tools.

That same emphasis on workflow improvement extends to jobsite cleanup. Heath introduced the Sweeper Bin, a companion product for magnetic rollers used to collect nails. Instead of stopping frequently to empty a full magnet or creating piles that must be gathered later, crews can quickly deposit collected debris into the bin and continue working. “It makes clean up so much faster,” Heath said, adding that the system also helps ensure fewer nails are left behind.

In addition to improving efficiency, the company is also addressing common installation challenges. A newly developed step flashing product integrates a self-sealing membrane gasket, making it easier to meet code requirements while reducing the likelihood of leaks around chimneys and roof-to-wall transitions.

Together, these innovations reflect a broader shift toward tools that not only improve production but also protect the homeowner’s property. By reducing damage, minimizing callbacks and improving overall jobsite performance, contractors can deliver a higher level of service.

Learn how contractors are using jobsite protection systems to strengthen visibility, generate referrals and reinforce a professional brand presence.

For roofing contractors, the jobsite does more than house the work; it shapes how a company is perceived in real time. In a competitive market, that first impression can influence whether a homeowner sees a contractor as organized, professional and trustworthy before any direct conversation begins. That is where products like The Catch-All can serve a dual purpose. While the system is built to protect landscaping and reduce cleanup time during tear-offs, it also gives contractors a way to present a more polished and intentional image. With logo banners and customizable messaging, crews can turn an active roofing project into a visible extension of their brand.

That added visibility matters because it places marketing directly in the neighborhoods where contractors want to build recognition. Rather than depending entirely on digital advertising or outbound outreach, roofers can use the jobsite itself to create awareness among nearby homeowners. A setup that looks orderly, branded and well managed can help distinguish one company from the many others working in the same market.

For Brandon Moye, co-founder of Home Source Roofing in Williamsport, Maryland, that distinction proved meaningful early in the company’s growth. Brandon, his brother Chris and their father John, built the business without a sales team, relying instead on discipline, presentation and a commitment to higher standards. As they refined their process, they realized that even a well-cleaned jobsite could still look like any other roofing project. The Catch-All helped change that. Brandon shared, “Within the first three months, we never had someone drive by and stop to ask us who we were. Since we got The Catch-All, it happens at least once a week.”

That increased visibility also produced a financial return. According to John, the system paid for itself in three to four jobs, demonstrating how presentation and process can support growth at the local level.

Products like custom logo banners and the Home Show Marketing Kit extend that strategy even further, giving contractors tools to showcase their approach both on the jobsite and at events. In that sense, the value is not just in protection; it is in creating a stronger, more recognizable presence wherever the company shows up.

Learn how new roofing tools are helping contractors reduce labor, improve safety and streamline jobsite operations.

At the International Roofing Expo (IRE) 2026, contractors looking for practical ways to improve day-to-day operations found a clear theme across the show floor; solutions designed to make common tasks faster, safer and more consistent. Speaking with The Coffee Shops™ at their booth, Heath Hicks of The Catch-All outlined how contractor-driven innovation is addressing persistent jobsite challenges in material handling, cleanup and property protection.

These tools are rooted in direct field experience. Heath, who operates both residential and commercial roofing businesses, explained that the product line developed in response to recurring inefficiencies crews face on active jobsites. Heath shared, “We have a whole host of products now that help roofers protect their job sites and move material around the job sites and keep it clean and market well around your job sites.”

That practical focus is evident in the Load Runner, an automated wheelbarrow dump designed to streamline debris handling. Instead of manually tossing material into dumpsters, often creating mess and requiring crews to climb inside, the system allows for controlled dumping and more complete loading. The result is a process that improves both efficiency and jobsite safety. Heath notes, “It saves you a lot of time, saves you a lot of labor.”

Additional tools address smaller but frequent inefficiencies that can add up over the course of a project. A self-leveling roof bucket helps contractors carry tools securely while climbing ladders, reducing unnecessary trips and minimizing dropped equipment. At the same time, Step Shield integrates a self-sealing gasket into step flashing, helping mitigate leaks around nail penetrations; a common source of callbacks, particularly around chimneys and roof-to-wall transitions.

Cleanup and property protection round out the system. A sweeper bin attachment allows crews to collect nails in a single pass without repeated interruptions, while protective systems such as Shrub Shield and AC Shield help prevent damage to landscaping and air conditioning units which are issues that can quickly become costly if overlooked.

These innovations reflect a broader shift toward simplifying routine work. Rather than reinventing the jobsite, the goal is to remove friction from the tasks contractors perform every day. As Heath noted, the reaction from many crews is immediate recognition: “I can't believe I didn't think of that.”

Clean jobsites build neighborhood trust and turn everyday roofing work into a reputation-building promise.

On a residential street, the sound of busy roofers fades and what remains is the evidence: A swept driveway, tools lined up where they belong and flower beds left standing. This is where The Catch-All enters the story, not as a product first, but as a positive presence shaping how the original beauty of jobsites are preserved rather than destroyed.

Roofing has always been about materials and methods, but the impact on the area surrounding the work speaks just as loudly. Neighbors watch from windows while homeowners look on, forming opinions long before the first shingle is placed. “Modern buyers link visible cleanliness with safety, skill and professionalism,” The Catch-All team notes. They emphasize why a clean jobsite perimeter and debris collection reads as competence and why scattered materials and trashcan register as risk. One driveway can influence how an entire block understands the crew working there, depending entirely on how it’s being cared for.

Jobsite cleanliness is not a singular task but rather, a sequence of conscious operations; from perimeter protection that keeps debris from scattering to equipment that never looks abandoned. Each intentional part of The Catch-All design builds on the next, creating a singular product that can address multiple concerns at once. In the end, the yard stays intact, walkways remain open, the crew is mindful of their surroundings and the site begins to feel contained, making homeowners and other potential customers feel reassured of the quality of work. Leaving behind a clean jobsite changes what happens after the installation, too. Customers are happy with the results and preservation of their yard and landscapes, while those watching from afar are impressed with the crew’s professionalism. That shine and positive impact is thanks to a system that moves smoothly and efficiently, cutting back on damages and potential for risks. The advantage of being the crew that leaves nothing behind

In the end, the difference is shaped by a crew that can work without constantly stopping to chase debris or explain the mess left behind. With The Catch-All in place, the pristine yard returns to itself, the driveway shows no proof of rummaging and the work feels organized from start to finish. Neighbors who watched the job unfold already understand what that order means and who they would call if their own roof needed attention. For the crew, it means fewer hazards underfoot and a cleaner path throughout the job. For the contractor, it means fewer callbacks, stronger first impressions and a site that markets the company without a word being spoken. Thanks to The Catch-All, everyday cleanup is turned into a visible signal of professionalism, safety and care.

Roofing companies have long understood the power of word of mouth, but The Catch-All is encouraging contractors to think more strategically about how online reviews influence future jobs. With more homeowners researching service providers before making a call, industry leaders say reputation has shifted from a competitive advantage to a basic requirement.

The impact is measurable. A 2020 Statista survey found that 94 percent of online consumers are more likely to choose a business with positive reviews. That level of influence has made ratings a routine part of the sales process and a priority for contractors competing in crowded markets.

Even so, roofing teams know how quickly a single outlier can affect perception. One-star reviews tend to draw disproportionate attention from homeowners, often overshadowing years of quality work. Many firms now train staff to respond to criticism with professionalism, empathy and clear solutions, knowing prospects often judge a company by how it handles challenges.

As contractors work to minimize the impact of occasional criticism, consistent positive feedback has become just as important. It often takes multiple strong reviews to counterbalance one negative experience, especially since first impressions form quickly. Even when most feedback is favorable, a single poor review can still influence a homeowner’s decision.

Contractors using The Catch-All say the system helps generate that positive feedback by protecting landscaping, driveways and exterior features during roofing projects. Clean, damage-free job sites frequently lead to compliments, referrals and repeat business — creating a buffer that helps companies remain competitive when rare complaints arise.

Customer retention also plays a growing role, particularly in storm-prone regions where homeowners may need recurring inspections or repairs. Contractors who follow up after severe weather often strengthen relationships and stay top of mind when the next storm hits.

To support these efforts, many companies are pairing on-site professionalism with simple tools that make reviews easier to leave. QR codes, short follow-up messages and small customer incentives all help encourage ongoing feedback that supports long-term growth.

Co-founders Heath Hicks and Eric McIntosh share how some failures can fuel innovation.

In this Roofing Road Trips® episode, Karen Edwards spoke with Heath Hicks and Eric Mackintosh, co-founders of The Catch-All, about their company’s journey through experimentation, failure and refinement that eventually led them to success.

As the Catch-All concept began to take form, Heath and Eric quickly realized that early designs created limitations. “We were a couple months in, and I felt like we were banging our heads against a brick wall trying to figure out how to make this better so it could be used everywhere,” Heath explained. Early versions relied on attaching to gutters or fascia, which varied widely from home to home and created new problems rather than solving them.

“I wanted my jobs to be better, but I also knew that this could be a business that could help a lot of other people and could also build a business that would be good for our legacy as well,” Eric recalled. “I've always had this odd belief that I can do whatever I want to do, and I think Heath had it too.”

The breakthrough came when they shifted their thinking away from attachment points entirely. “I think it was Eric’s idea to use the poles to lean it up against the house so that it didn't have to attach to the house at all,” Heath stated. That change in design allowed The Catch-All to work across nearly any structure and roofing style.

Continuing to go back to the drawing board and collaborating on ideas, building off past mistakes led to their ultimate breakthrough. Eric recalled the mindset he had throughout the process. “We already figured out several ways that don’t work, so let’s keep trying and maybe we’ll find out a way that does work,” Eric remembered. “If we just try long enough, eventually we're going to get it right.”

“We were just trying to build a system that worked,” Heath added. “We got so much energy from all that iteration, trying and failing and trying and failing and little improvement after a little improvement. It didn't even matter if the world knew or if it was going to make money or not. We knew we were making something better through all those rounds of process.”

This mindset reflects the founders’ passion for uncharted territory. “I really like doing things that haven't been done before. That's a lot more exciting to me,” Heath expressed. “I like the path where there’s nobody to follow, nothing to emulate. You're making it up as you go along. That to me is particularly exciting — that blue ocean where there's nobody else out there.”

"Our relationship was built on that [innovative mindset],” Eric recalled. “Back in college, we would invent a lot of crazy games together.”

Today, those “crazy ideas” continue to fuel innovation, such as a new addition to the Catch-All product line: the LoadRunner, a wheelbarrow lift designed to transform debris removal on jobsites. “We really get energized when we're learning new things,” Heath expressed. “If I had a choice, I would rather learn new things than go back and master old things.”

Teams that win start with smarter systems

Behind every successful roofing company is a sales process that turns local leads into lifelong customers. That success isn’t just about who picks up the phone – it's all about using the right tools to get there.

In the roofing industry, sales success rarely comes down to luck. For many companies, it’s the result of combining strong sales processes with smart tools like The Catch-All, a property protection system that doubles as an on-site marketing engine. The key is that growth isn’t just about generating more leads; it’s about handling better ones with a system that converts.

Many roofing companies have the capacity to take on two or three more jobs each month without stretching their resources. At The Catch-All, the focus is on finding individuals who are driven to succeed. The team looks for people who are motivated to improve their lives and are ready to grow into top performers within a supportive environment rich with opportunity.

At the heart of that success is a well-trained sales team that acts as an extension of the brand, not just order-takers but trusted advisors in the neighborhoods they serve. That local presence, coupled with reliable processes, is what turns a lead into a job and a job into a referral.

Marketing plays a key role, too. A sharp website and standout social media content can generate traffic, but it’s what happens next that really matters. “The roofing industry is dense,” said Brian Hano of Cloteaux Roofing & Construction, based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. “So, it's imperative to separate yourself from the pack.”

The Catch-All helps contractors do just that. Designed to protect customers’ homes during re-roofs, it also makes a bold visual statement by displaying the company’s name and contact info right on the netting. It signals professionalism to clients and their neighbors alike. With a guarantee to pay for itself in five jobs or fewer, it’s a tool that builds trust and drives future business. The companies getting ahead are the ones building visibility, training smarter teams and turning every job into a new opportunity.
