Building up their community with quality roofs and meaningful connections.

Every month, we choose one of the incredible contractors in our R-Club community to be our Roofer of the Month, and for October 2026 that spotlight is on NY Roofing! NY Roofing is a roofing company based out of Brooklyn, New York. To learn more about the company, we invited their founder and general contractor Sean Levine onto an episode of the Roofer of the Month podcast!

Sean began the podcast by sharing some background on NY Roofing, saying, “We service all of New York City and we are primarily a flat roofing expert. We do everything from residential homes like classic Brooklyn brownstones to full commercial skyscrapers in Manhattan.” And, though the name specifies roofing, Sean’s team services all exterior needs. He explained, “We have workers experienced in everything from waterproofing, to siding, to full masonry – beyond just roofing.”

A great example of these skills at work was a complex residential slate project that Sean and his team tackled in Sunnyside, Queens. He recalled:

The roofs were about 125 years old at the time, and we had to get Landmarks Preservation Commission approval to do the work... I personally found myself sourcing slate stones from around the U.S. to match the exact character of the neighborhood’s existing roofs. We also had teams doing advanced copper work for that project. But what made us really proud was that after all the neighbors saw our work, they each called us back for an estimate. And we ended up doing that whole block’s roofs.

Not only is this project a great example of the skill and craftsmanship that Sean and his team possess, but it was also representative of the care for communities that they bring to each and every project. Sean said, “At the end of the day, while New York City is a large city, population density-wise, our communities are tight-knit, they know each other and a lot of our work is repeat business, from clients recommending us because of our track record of roofs that haven’t leaked.”

And they don’t take that trust lightly, in fact NY Roofing works hard to give back to the Brooklyn communities that they work in throughout the year, often at churches and other community spaces after they’ve redone the roof. As Sean put it, “These events are so important. We love getting to interact with community members and give them a chance to see a community space revitalized with a new roof. Because those are the two things that are at the core of our operations – good, quality work and community.”
