"Old School's" Slate School

"Old School's" slate school is now in session: How to make a repair on a slate roof.

That is how you DON'T do a slate repair! Note to self!

You select the right size slate and install the hook.  Then you slide the new slate into the hole until it is in the right spot and the hook will secure it in place.

Just slide it up until the hook is visible and then wiggle it to the exact spot!
