Product Profiles: DetailBond - Do You Speak Roofing?
Editor's Note: We accept advertising for many interesting products. We asked Jon E. Folkersen, founder of RoofTape, LLC about their new DetailBond.
If you insist on carrying a roofing nail with you at all times, you might be speaking roofing. If you insist on handing out hook blades, your language skills are improving. If you prefer red chalk over blue, you are in a graduate program. If you are reluctant to use new products, now you are speaking roofing. The crossing of the T's and dotting of the I's is now possible when using DetailBond.
DetailBond by RoofTape, LLC is the next product in this tradition of roofers speaking roofing. DetailBond has a fiberglass core, is sticky on both sides and is used at various locations on the building envelope. As a roofer by trade, I have seen first hand how new technologies also bring with them a new set of problems.
As such, this article we will focus on DetailBond and how it improves the performance of synthetic underlayments.
In October 2007, the use of secondary water barriers (SWB's) became the law in Florida. The majority of synthetic underlayment manufacturers advertise that their products can be left exposed from 6 to 12 months without completing the system. As you know, liability increases with prolonged job site exposure. Much of this risk is now eliminated when using DetailBond with your synthetic underlayment installation.
DetailBond is installed at head and side laps, and along eave and rake locations. Fastener quantity may be lowered, providing for a labor and product savings. DetailBond may be considered a related item, as fasteners are to shingles. DetailBond further eliminates the gap at the interface of the synthetic underlayment and when installed, correctly bonds the synthetic underlayment directly to the substrate and/or the drip edge.
The synthetic roofing underlayment business is quickly becoming a one billion dollar industry. Now, this industry can complete the details by using DetailBond. DetailBond is compatible with all synthetic underlayment's on the market today and enhances their performance by meeting the requirements of ASTM D-1970 for self adhering polymer sheet materials.
Put away the caulking gun and eliminate the tubes. When you speak roofing you now have a new word to add to your lexicon, "DetailBond". My name is Jon E. Folkersen the Founder of RoofTape, LLC.
